Great 3 points, which I felt was well deserved; Plastics played with no forward line so would obviously win the midfield battle. It was a brave/dangerous/silly decision to go with 2 up front and concede control of the midfield by RL but paid off!! We had 2 15-20 minute spells in the game where we were the better team and had that bit of luck you need on a couple of occasions. I’ll be glad when Hughes is back and hopefully he stays injury free for the rest of the season, as well as Best is doing 3rd possibly 4th choice if Hughes, Greg and Whatmough are available. Id love to see Millar given a run on the right, see how he does not having to cut inside every time. Think he could also be the one to stretch a game in the last 20 if signed a proper LWB to start the game.
Great derby win made this mornings grassroots game in Blackburn much more enjoyable

3 points...a draw would probably have been a fair result on play but that's how it goes sometimes. We took our chances and they didn't despite some good build up play esp. in the second half. It's easy to see why we can't keep a clean sheet when nobody tracks runners and they are allowed to get in behind. Pleased with Osmajic's first half performance, second he never got a decent ball. Millar disappointing but I suppose that is going to happen the way he plays...some days he'll go past defenders, other he will give the ball away. Credit to Evans when he came on...showed a lot more nous than we'd seen from Keane and used his strength to hold up the ball. I've said before that Best is not ready for Champ football..and I'm afraid tonight's game again showed why not. He put in an excellent cross for Osmajic's offside (again) 'goal' in the second half but all night struggled to contain his man and gave way some silly free kicks. Storey also had an indifferent game repeatedly giving the ball away. Because of two great finishes for us and Rovers not firing at the front we got away with it tonight but the defending needs seriously addressing before we start shipping 3 and 4 a game again. Same old, sAME OLD. Never a good word to say about a good performance. Cannot give Best any credit for his performance despite his lack of playing/experience etc. Remember you said the same about Hughill, but we did sell him for good money.Always look on the bright side of life, as the saying goes.

I wish we'd kept Dolan in our squad. He’s always said even if we’d offered him a deal he wouldn’t have signed it… At the time we played 4231 and had Callum Robinson playing there (on the left which was Dolan’s position then) with Harrop usually on the bench and Maguire also capable of playing there. He wouldn’t have made a match day squad at that time as his game had little end product. Personally feel it was right at the time but his attitude has improved and he now works harder to be a team player and not a show pony. He’s decent now for sure.

Looking at pre new year fixtures we should have 40 plus points by 2024.

No doubt we should have kept Dolan, but from what I’ve heard he didn’t want to stay. So what can you do?
Would have been a handy player to have around, but no great loss, don’t think he improves our first team. And he’s not the Ballon D’or winner plastic fans made him out to be in his first few minutes.

I think Dolan is a decent little player. No great loss but would have been useful to have around in recent, rather boring years. Clearly wasn't the type of player Alex Neil would have wanted in his team.
Wasn't there shock and uproar when we let Ethan Walker leave and sign for them too. What's he doing these days?

"deserved at least a point, and should have won it as we were the better team" That's the general gist form the plethora of Rovers fans i deal with :-) My response in a condescending tone has generally been "you played a lot better than the last time we played you at Ewood, so its nice to see you are improving"

Listened to Andy Bayes on last nights Radio Lancs Sports programme he was purring about us being men against boys, how our lads have grown up together and how they are all coming to the peak of their career all together at the same time. I am in Tenerife at the moment and met some Hull season ticket holders on the flight out, they were very complimentary about us and said they were so lucky as we should have a penalty at theirs. Bumped into them on Sunday and they we full of praise saying a fantastic game to watch on Friday and we look so strong, powerful and lethal when attacking …. long may it continue www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0gplqfz (starts 10.08)

Gotta love Youl Mawene for putting his lads through the North End set up rather than Blackburn like Matty Hill and Gally 🤮

Why would any parent opt for a Cat 3 Academy if they can get their lad into a Cat 1 with better facilities, more coaches, more coaching hours and better standard opponents?

Because in my experience of Junior Football and Academy recruitment (substantial) I have yet to meet a single parent who gave a toss about their own club commitment/allegiance when their lad has been offered an Academy place...I've known diehard ST holders of clubs who have jumped at the prospect of getting their lad into arch rivals and have bent over backwards (taking them to training two nights a week and matches taking all day Sunday to get there and back home) in order to support their continuing development. I don't think a single parent or player who had a choice would go for a Cat 3 over Cat 1. I would doubt very much that the Mawenes had any choice.
One thing that does happen though..I've seen it time and time again...is the old boy network, former players of a club going back and getting their lad into a club where they played or where they were known or where they have mates coaching even though their lad may not have been recruited otherwise. Such is the competition though most don't last. One coming through the system, like young Mawene is the exception. Hill and Gally's won't make it any other way than on merit....and good luck to them because they would not get the same development opportunities at PNE. ...and it's why Rovers have now got former Academy players in the first team whereas we have not got one who has an established first team place.Like any parent Hill and Gally are just doing their best for their sons.
What needs criticising is not parent acting in their sons best interest but the PNE Academy set up and the lack of support for the excellent coaches there and a means of player development other than third rate loans to lower league and non-league clubs.

Some of the football we play is awful we have players turning out week in week out in positions that dont suit them we have a very average manager (at best) a person running the club who is a conman no proper academy and yet we are still in the top six "jesus" just think where we could be if we were run properly

Yes Daws Blackburn have a good academy, streets ahead of us. Thanks for going to great lengths to point this out.
It was light hearted comment about Youl, someone highly thought of by any north end fan. And it’s a nice story for us if Noah can make an impact in the first team.
Back on the game itself, for all blackburns nice play we probably created the same amount of good chances. Two completely different styles that will probably yield about the same amount of points.
