Hull City V Preston North End Saturday 28th October 2023 MKM Stadium KO 3pm
Great game at Deepdale on Wednesday night. Plenty of opportunities on goal for both sides, four goals and a share of the spoils. We'd have been happier with all three points of course and the award of a penalty, but we were good value for the point against a fancied side in form. Not too shabby at all. A team selection which gained approval and much of the same tomorrow please. The two sides are separated by just two points at the top end of the Championship table. North End are on a six-match winless run, while the tigers moved back within touching distance of the playoff places with a midweek victory at Wayne Rooney's St Andrew's. After seeing several players return from injury layoffs in recent weeks, Hull City should come into the weekend with a clean bill of health, aside from the absence of midfielder Regan Slater. Liam Rosenior will certainly avoid making many changes after their midweek away win, and Jaden Philogene and Liam Delap are bound to keep their places in attack after their goals at St Andrew's, while Scott Twine will also hope to start again amid competition from Dogukan Sinik, Aaron Connolly and Jason Lokilo. Greg Docherty and Ozan Tufan will both fight to return to the midfield from the outset, although we are more likely to see an unchanged pairing of Jean-Michael Seri and Tyler Morton in front of the back four of Lewie Coyle, Alfie Jones, Sean Mcloughlin and Jacob Greaves. North End have more injury concerns to deal with, as attacker Emil Riis remains sidelined alongside midfielder Ali McCann and defenders Andrew Hughes, Calvin Ramsay and Jack Whatmough. With Hughes and Whatmough out of contention, Greg Cunningham will again join mainstays Liam Lindsay and Jordan Storey in a back three, while Brad Potts and Liam Millar should continue to operate on attacking wing-back roles. Will Keane will hope to keep his starting place as a lone striker, with support from Mads Frokjaer-Jensen and Duane Holmes, although Milutin Osmajic is vying to come in and lead the line after netting his second goal for the club off the bench on Wednesday. Massive hats off to the travelling north enders. Support on the road is impressive, vociferous and North End will have another sold out away end tomorrow. Great stuff and safe long journey to all.

Unfortunately for me I'm not well enough to go tomorrow (prob should not have gone on Weds, just made myself physically worse even if though the match left me feeling psychologically better). I usually end up following the BBC text in such a circumstance...and it can be tortuous.
Never mind this 'rotation' Lowe talked about he should play his best side...and that means same again. The one possible exception being MF who was out of touch on Wednesday. Osmajic showed what he could do when he has the ball in front of him and has clearly made a good case for starting. Will Lowe go two at the top in an away match? No chance I suspect. If anything I expect to see MF and Osmajic with Keane taking a rest......although feeding off scraps they did OK together at Ipswich.
We have a mixed record at Hull.....on paper we are at least a match for them although what's the betting Delap scores? Didn't get much opportunity with Lowe (neither for that matter did Anthony Gordon and now he's playing in the Champ League). I would have been very happy to see Twine at Deepdale.
We've had excellent support in the last two away games at Leicester and Ipswich and it will be the same again tomorrow....I hope for their sake, if nothing else, we get a result there....a draw would do me. Lose and we could find ourselves down to 8th or 9th by Saturday evening.

Hull's support is weird. They either fill the Stadium or it evaporates to a level well below our average. I don't fancy us today. You never know which PNE is going to turn up. I usually look at BPs contribution in the for 15 minutes to help me decide. He was fantastic at Stoke so let's hope for another away win.

My worst fears confirmed Ledson back in the starting line up. I truly despair Lowe takes a slight step forward and a bigger one back

It gives me no pleasure but Lowe has to go he has no idea. A little momentum and we go out yet again not to lose. I said it before a ball was kicked Ledson not good enough Potts and Storey have no pace we will always be found out. I have been around too long to know what we are, however this manager has not got it.

Feeling pretty miffed off here, stonewall of a pen denied (again) Keane and Cunningham off in first half, Ref a Numpty and a half we got players booked for fun theirs identical fouls or worse totally ignored …… Defeats for Plastics, Dingles and Lashers …. another derby lined up next season with a trip to Turf

2 points from last 6 games says it all only the bottom two have a worst record and no before anyone mentions the first 9 games that's history and I still say we are no more than a bottom half team with a non league manager

What gets me is we lack creativity , Ryan bemoaned this all last season (even though we had DJ and he didn’t know what to do with him… so we bin off DJ (another assist today btw…), brought in Frøkjær, who is a similar type of classy player and guess what? Ryan doesn’t seem to rate him! Leaves him sat on the bench for 90 minutes. Weird.

Really want Lowe to succeed but I’m in agreement, another manager gets more out of these players.
Another blatant pen not given again.

Don’t give up Tom, generally it’s good on here and we all want the same thing…..but we have differing views how to achieve it. Apparently that’s healthy

I can’t see how it’s Lowes fault when the players on the park, give the ball away, commit pointless fouls and fail to play basic football. Ledson did ok today, not great but ok. Best is way off this level at the moment, Brady needs a rocket, Whiteman for once in a while needs to play the ball forward and Freddie seriously needs to learn how to distribute. They were poor to average PNE were worse

Exactly what team did RL put out today because the BBC have crossed threads & show the Teams for Watford vs Millwall. If RL started Ledson d Brady he should be sacked. Anyone with half ya brain recognises that they cannot perform at this level. PS I forecast October would be a marker for the rest of the Season. 2pts from 6 games says it all. It will be amazing if he is still Manager by Christmas. All he is doing is demonstrating his incompetence. Didn't want him to fail but he is doing nothing to show he knows anything about football. We played well on Wednesday but he discards the Pace & replaces it with incompetence. Had enough of him.

We’ve done enough last 3 games to win 3 games, 3 pens and we would be laughing, need to be more creative, for me the reintroduction of Whiteman has reintroduced more of ‘passing sideways’ football we had last season, Ledson certainly not good enough but with McCann out for the foreseeable not much option, Holmes has gone off the boil, Browne an absolute stalwart and leading by example. We chase the ball for 60+% of games that in itself has got to be a burn out factor for players, time to get hold of it, pass it around, forget looking for that final pass, just take a flipping chance and hit it. A Very controversial option this, cash in on Freddie,(his kicking not he best) and retrieve Iverson from the Leicester wilderness, get Ben Davies back home as sicknote Hughes and Cunningham not the answer to build a team on
