Preston North End v Blackburn Rovers Saturday 22nd May 2023 Deepdale Stadium V Well there's a good deal of excitement going into this fixture with the AKTE and IP all but sold out and the Finney soon to follow. So 20 000 plus will see this Lancashire hotpot. Let's face it, both teams need a win so it could be a cracking game. North Enders aren't confident but neither are the plastics. Both teams are in decent form over the last ten games with North End gaining 17 points to Rovers 15. All that goes out of the window to a large extent with a cup mentality kicking in. The late kick off lends itself well to plenty of discussion in the pub and I think it will carry on long into the night for at least one set of fans. I think the Deepdale faithful crave a line up with some attacking intent and their perception of our best 11 which may not have been quite the case midweek at Swansea. Let's hope RLs touchline ban will give him an elevated view of the game. As disappointing as the result in south Wales was, the only way to avenge it is to give Rovers a good battering so here's hoping.

Less than a 1000 tickets left. Town end and pavilion sold out. Should be a great atmosphere.
Got a bad feeling about this game.

Absolutely awful that 1st half last night. If fit I’d go with
Woodman
Storey Diaby Hughes
Potts McCann Onamah Alvaro
DJ Parrott
Cannon
Worry is that 5 of this 11 won’t be here next season. Big summer ahead.

Will be watching on Sky & hoping we can deliver. See no problem In RL being banned - he'll see a lot more from the Stands. Communications will not be a problem. Please get the Defence to be Attacking not Passive like they were at Swansea. Appalling 1st half

Morning everyone - I'm pretty excited about this weekend - it's a bit of a once in a lifetime 'free hit' for most of the squad. We have come from nowhere (and yes, only by beating the Lashers etc, but who cares at this point) and the reality is that 7 points from here would give us a really strong chance of hitting 6th place. One look at the fixtures tells us that most teams are playing each other, so points will be dropped. It's a massive 'IF' and we really do need a one game at a time approach. No point crying about the Millwall and Swansea games, no point worrying about Alvaro coming back (or not!), just get to Deepdale, make some noise and get behind them all. Mistakes will happen, nerves will play a part and that's where we, as supporters, can become the famed '12th man'. We know that the opposition usually crumble once they're behind, so from the kick off, let's roar the boys on. Whatever anyone thinks of this squad, they are grafters, they make the effort and leave nothing out there (well, apart from Woodburn ha ha). For me the team selection is something of a no-brainer, we need to revert to what had been working for the past few games, albeit without Browne, who has been a huge loss (apologies Browne haters) to the team.
Woodman Storey Bambo Hughes Potts Onomah Whiteman DJ Alvaro Parrott Cannon
For me this HAS to be the starting line up. Whiteman was utterly dreadful the other night, but he always rocks up in Derby games and puts in the performances. I think he's got enough credit in the bank to be allowed a stinker without losing his place. I think if we can get Onomah to bust a gut for an hour, then bring Ali McKante on, that makes the most sense as Ali has been out for a good while (not that you'd have thought that from his performance on Wednesday, which I thought was good)
Win this one and it's been a decent season - we'll have ended their dreams, relegated Blackpool, still be in with a sniff of top 6 ourseleves with 2 games to go, which is definitely a better season than most of us expected in August.

I'd go with the same side.....it will concede not least because the side will have to play on the front foot, but hopefully, with Lowe out of the way, more common sense than the other night. It's all very well closing down from the front but not at the expense of leaving the back door open.

That formation the other night... the closing down from the front could have worked, but in reality, we only had 3 people pushing on to press, 4 occasionally when Alvaro joined in, but DJ needed backing from Whiteman and/or Ledson as their passing out from the back was far too easy as they always had two spare man to pass to. Anyway... enough of Wednesday. Happy weekend to you all!

I was advocating giving Delap a chance, but Wednesday proved why he’s not ready yet.
Parrot getting a goal should give him a shot of confidence and take some of the pressure of Cannon.

Yeah I think that's Delaps last chance at a start barring an injury... Rubbish. Parrot has 3 league goals all season but is still twice the player.

Delap is miles behind Parrott - despite the criticism he has taken, I really do think there's a cracking player in there, he's not ruthless enough to be an out and out front man, but I could see him being really effective in a 4231 formation, either centrally or down the left. He's got loads of attributes, whereas Delap? I just don't see a professional footballer in there - can you really get to that level just because of who your dad is?

Delap, 24 goals in 20 games for City u23, arguably the best player in the league and pick of the bunch of loan players available. But it’s probably easier playing with the best young players in Europe.
City turned down £16 million from Southampton I read today.
Seems to have a chip on his shoulder to me, something I don’t like. You’ve got to earn the chip first.

You’ve got to earn the chip first. Seems to have a poor first touch which is a massive shock given his apparent standing in the game. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not writing him off completely but I just don’t see the hype!

Any news on Browne? McCann looked strong and fit when he came on too. Personally i cant see anything from this after the effort exerted on Wednesday.
Praying for a win though!!

I'm looking forward to this one. Come up for it but watching it in the pub rather giving the club any money whilst PR and CE are still on the payroll.

We are what we are ...a lower Champ squad propped up with loans and a club run by a dinosaur.
Still want to win this one though.

Onto next season to endure the same? Amazing we have one saleable asset Whiteman he will be gone as sure as I have air in my lungs. We will listen to the same #### as we do every year. Poor team no ambition.
