Not one win this year against any team who were in the top fifteen when we played them yet there are those who still believe we are a good team with a good manager and they are entitled to their opinion but I definitely don't share it

Just watched the highlights!! Obviously a foul on Potts for their 1st, 3rd was a yard offside.
Referee was very poor.

Oliver Langford… referee. Awful ref. Blows his whistle and books people left, right and centre for some stuff, yet lets short pulling and time wasting go unpunished. He was equally bad for both teams, as the consistency of his decision making simply doesn’t exist. I’ve never seen him keep control of a game. Players and staff have little or no respect for the guy at all. Lowe and Allen now have a ban, where’s Langford”d’s accountability? Doesn’t exist!
Not gonna mention that I read he’s a former season ticket holder of a club that play in Tangerine… as it may not be true! 🤬

Apparently since the Rovers game on December 10th we have not beaten a current top 14 side.
W0 D3 L7 v top-14 sides and W8 D1 L2 v bottom-10 teams.
I got this from t'other site so will stand corrected!
Confirms what many of us have been thinking for months.

We are well and truly stuck in mid table. Capable of seeing off the substantial amount of dross teams in the division this season but very quickly undone when faced with genuine quality and good coaches.
How we've even got a chance of the play offs is beyond me.

Russell Martin said the mass brawl which marred Swansea City's 4-2 win over Preston North End was not "pretty for anyone".
Preston boss Ryan Lowe, who declined to talk to the media after the game, and Swansea midfielder Joe Allen were shown red cards in the 90th minute.
The Football Association will look into a prolonged touchline clash involving players and staff from both clubs.
"It can be avoided. Ryan pushes Joe and chaos ensues," said Swans boss Martin.
"I've watched it back, I don't think it's pretty for anyone. Our job as a group of staff is to get players away from it. The situation could have been avoided, twice probably. It is what it is.
"A couple of things I really didn't like but it is what it is.
"When people are so passionate and care about what they're doing, sometimes it boils over. I don't judge anyone for that, but it is a disappointing thing to happen."
Allen now faces a three-match ban which means his season is over.
The 33-year-old, who had scored his side's second goal, had been substituted by the time Jay Fulton went down with what appeared to be a head injury in the last few minutes of normal time.
Swansea were unhappy that play was not stopped to allow Fulton to receive treatment, with Allen protesting in front of the Preston dugout before being shoved by Lowe.
The former Wales midfielder reacted by barging into Lowe before numerous others got involved in an incident which seems certain to be looked at by the Football Association (FA).
"I'm really disappointed with how the night ends [for Allen] because all he was doing was trying to get the attention of the fourth official," added Martin.
"The game probably should have been stopped, Jay Fulton takes a head injury.
"The game should be stopped, but it isn't. Ryan pushes Joe and after that it's carnage. If that doesn't happen I don't think any of it happens.
"I think he has done a great job there, as he did at Plymouth, so I am not going to judge him on that action because it's a pressured environment.
"It's so different, it's so difficult - it is what it is."
Martin defended Allen, adding: "I totally understand Joe's reaction to it. You don't expect that from a manager.
"He didn't provoke it, but his reaction probably merits that [red card]. He's apologised, but he doesn't need to.
"He's just showing care for his team-mate. He reacts because he's a winner."

How we've even got a chance of the play offs is beyond me. Therefore, are you saying our low budget squad and management are doing a good job? Consider all the other clubs who have the benefit of parachute payments, better crowds, bigger backers etc etc can we really expect any better?

Just watched the Sky highlights - or lowlights if you are a North End Supporter. The Defence in the 1st half was non-existent. Everyone backed off, no-one attacked the ball/opposition. What was going on? For the 1st goal, Hughes was trying to force the Attacker on the outside but he's left-footed and can't tackle with his right foot. Explain. We came back in the 2nd half and maybe should have equalised. As to the melee, no idea what happened but the Referee had no understanding of what was going on all match. Could have got something from this match & we've probably blown it. Beat Rovers & we're back in the mix. Come on you Whites ⚽

On what objective basis Markos do you describe the squad as 'low budget?' Which clubs have you compared the wage bill to? Last accounts show a total wage bill of £24.6m. Granted the club cannot compete with clubs receiving parachute payments but I suggest when you are paying players £19,000 a week (as in the case of DJ) describing the squad as 'low budget is a completely misleading. There's 3 clubs in the play-off places with smaller wage bills for starts.
(I would add that the wage bill needs to be dramatically brought down).

Consider all the other clubs who have the benefit of parachute payments, better crowds, bigger backers etc etc can we really expect any better? I've been as frustrated as anybody at times this season but I think our league position and points tally reflects a fair performance overall. Especially given lack of recent investment in the playing squad (Daws rightly points out clubs with a similar budget to ours are performing better though). I don't like the constant flipping between doom and gloom and elation, and prefer to remain calm about things. Being where we are in the table it's easy to get carried away in both instances. Lowe has made many mistakes in his time here, yet here we sit just outside the play offs. It's just where we are supposed to be. Nowhere near good enough to go up buy better than the likes of wigan and Reading. Next season will be huge. I expect better teams overall in the league and this team without Cannon, Fernandez, DJ and Onomah (a very real possibility) is poor in all honesty. If we fail to retain/replace adequately these individuals we will struggle massively in my opinion.

I think there are major issue for next season.
The ownership of the club has become convoluted within a trust...whilst controleld by the Hemmings there's also an issue as to how much the trust (or any other trustees) are prepared to put into the club.
The current budget is not sustainable...and the wage bill needs to be sharply reduced.
(Nobody in their right mind would consider taking on the club in current circumstances....in contrast to what the numpties on the other site may think regarding any (unknown) asking price the real issue is the current running cost and what it would take to compete at the top, or, indeed, what would be allowed).
The team has done well this year, exceeded expectations in being in the play-off chase, but it has been down to - loan players - the teams we have played
And for me this member of the jury is still out on the manager...I am not impressed by his team selections/ match strategies and I consider his game management poor (consisting of little more than throwing on as many subs as he can reasonably get on, more often than not just disrupting any pattern of play).
We are back to sq. 1 for the summer...........and it's the real infrastructure issues under PR's mismanagement come to the fore: - lack of commercial income - inability to develop own players - poor recruitment track record - unbalanced squad
The basis of a decent side is there...but it would take at least bringing in 5 0r 6 very good players for next season to provide the basis for any play-off push (bearing in mind the loss of the loans and long needed rb, rwb and another striker). And where is the money for this?
My fear is the lack of infrastructure development will put us down amongst the half dozxen strugglers in a similar position. The club can't keep on splashing out money on loans (zero add on value) and unaffordable contracts without the cost coming home to roost one day.
--------
Top and bottom of it is the club is not very well run.
Look at Luton..half PNE's wage bill, yet the club has finances in place for an £8m to £10m improvements on the ground for next season and £100m in place to develop a new 20,000 seater stadium.

ginagee, I find your comments on Joe laughable to the point of typical football bias I wont for one minute deny that he is passionate about the game does not like losing and he should probably not have left the bench to have a go at the ref but does that excuse Lowes reaction of course not he was upset because he had cocked up his initial team selection and not for the first time and by the way Joe Allen has made a better job of his career than any of the dross we have at the moment and yes I am biased as well cause he is a good mate and a cracking bloke and even at 33yo I wish we could have him

A quick tot up suggests around 18 clubs have had the benefit of parachute payments, PNE have not, therefore overall they have received significantly less income over the last few years + there are those in the prem that have bounced back after having PPs As for the £19K its a few maybe 4 at the most!
