Queens Park Ranges v Preston North End
Good Friday 7th April KO 3pm Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium
The Managerial merry-go-round has been in full flow at QPR, Michael Beale took over in June 2022 but left in November to manage Glasgow Rangers, Neil Critchley took charge and sad to say his first game in charge was 1 0 success at Deepdale but the new Manager bounce didn’t last long and he was sacked 12 games later (46 days later) in spite of signing a 3 and half year deal. He was replaced by former player Gareth Ainsworth, signing from Wycombe Wanderers. Saturday’s defeat to the Wigan was the sixth in seven under Gareth Ainsworth, with the former player not having the desired impact since his appointment. A Max Power penalty, given after a foul from Balogun, condemned the Londoners to their latest loss, and it leaves them just three points above the relegation zone. After the game defender Leon Balogun went up to the fans as they were displaying their anger, but his actions seemed to make things worse, as he indicated he couldn’t hear what they were saying – QPR have since revealed he has invited fans to the training ground after he appeared to be involved in an argument with supporters after the defeat at Wigan. What their fans think:- Loft for Words www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/forum/We are Rangers Boys www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/general/qpr-fans Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself – after the demolition of Plastics 4-1 away at Deadwood back in December, first game after the International break, PNE faced QPR and in a dour Deepdale game lost 1 0 to a QPR team with a new Manager and a team of players wearing 7 on their shirts 7,17,27,37 and 47 …… With the sad news of Ched’s career ending injury it is now up to the loanee young guns to step it up. Both Troy Parrott and Liam Delap need to follow in the footsteps of Tom Cannon and start to prove their worth. Time to make it a Very Happy Easter 6 points from the next two and who knows? …………. For me a 1 0 win – Tom Cannon and an unchanged line up Referee:- Geoff Eltringham Available to watch on Sky Red Button Attachments:QPR.jfif (27.17 KB)

Win on Friday and we'll all start getting giddy but we know that PNE will mess it up.

Thanks for the thread. Loftus Rd not one of my favourite grounds.....awkward to get to and shocking viewing when you do. There was some talk a few years back of moving but that seems to have fallen through.
I saw the first ever game QPR played in the top flight ..think it was early 70s and I disappeared from the Reading Festival to go and watch.
Reality is that QPR is a small club...L1 size really.
They are on a terrible run and we ought to get 3 points ...but we are PNE.
I shall be up at Bassenthwaite Friday and I wonder if there's any way of watching (would need to find a pub in Cockermouth).
As for the team it picks itself bar who plays alongside Cannon...I've not been impressed by Parrot (poor against Pool) or Delap (good work rate and nice touch but no end product). Woodburn is surely on his way out...needs to drop down a division or two.
I'd like to see players moved sround and Mawene given a game. Stick Potts at No 10 behind Cannon, Brown on the right and Mawene in midfield. Won't happen but I'd like to see it.

We're on a roll, confidence is high - unlike QPR. Early goal & we win. 1-0 to the Lillywhites.

On paper we should be looking at 6 points over the Easter break, but knowing North End im expecting 2, Chedwyn is a massive loss as it means nothing sticks up top: which isnt the end of the world when your playing a poor team but against any decent opposition it just keeps coming back.
Same line up will probably start with changes for the Monday game expected, i can see Brady, Delap and Onomah getting starts on Monday: Maybe Diaby coming back in too.
If i was picking id give Delap a run Friday instead of Parott.

We must have a striker in the youth team or reserve side (almost the same side) who is better than Parrot or Delap seen nothing off either of them to tell me they have championship quality having just had a good home win it would be typical of PNE to then lose to this lot

For a name like Parrot he plays anything but on the shoulder. Coming short every time and when he can’t trap a bag of cement. Gotta give Delap a run out.
Almost a guaranteed loss coming off a good win. It’s always the way.

Surely we have more than a chance tomorrow.
Our recent form is decent. Enough to take the steam off Lowe.
W4 D4 L2
Contrast with QPR
W1 D1 L8
Tough league to predict but I fancy a result.

Most are non league level and would get eaten alive by Championship defenders.

thefutureisbrown, Dont know ! but have you seen anything in them two that makes you think they should start I certainly havent and I dont know where you get the highly rated from except Ridsdales usual rubbish so therefore would like to see one of our own given the chance they cant do any worse than nothing

I'm basing them being highly rated through Pep keeping Delap as part of the City squad last season and giving him first team minutes previously and Parrott also being part of the Spurs first team squad and a starter for his country. I also think Parrott is and will be a good player at this level. Sometimes he is ineffective but I like his all round game and he's a tidy footballer. I absolutely agree that we should have got more out of these players and was quite happy with them on the bench with Evans and Cannon starting given recent form but the reality is they are streets ahead of the next alternative - O'Neil yet to score for Grimsby in league two, Cross-Adair on loan at Bamber Bridge. If we had those two up front we'd really be in trouble.

I haven't seen as much of Parrott as most of you have but what I have seen is that he is not afraid to take the ball, he draws defenders to him, creates space for others, makes some good runs into good positions.
As are Cannon and Delap he is probably a bit too eager to impress, when he learns it's a team game, when to shoot and when to pass he will be a better player.
Cannon appears to be the best of the bunch at the moment, when the ball ends up in the back of the net a few times it takes the pressure off and builds confidence.
Parrott and Delap haven't had that fortune yet and that gives the keyboard warriors on PNE-Online a new target since the departure of Josh Harrop. I guess time will tell. Good luck to the three of them I say.

The fact that the club has had to rely on Evans says everything about the strike force. Don't get me wrong, he's done a good job but the club should not be having to rely so much on a 34 years old with no pace and rarely able to finish 90 minutes.
It is 12 years since the club signed a player who made it in the first team...Ben Davies.
Both records speak volumes for the way the club is run.
As for Delap and Parrot the former hasn't really had a chance to show what he can do...when he has played he has shown good technique but little else. I'm afraid Parrot has been all over the place.....nothing wrong with his work rate but basics have been missing, such as comtrol, accurate passing and composure in front of goal. Never looks like scoring. Shows the difference between even Prem U21 sides and the Championship...it's a big step up.
Cannon looks to have the ability to make it...like to see him another season.
Riis and Cannon could be good combination but suspect that half the season will have gone by the time Riis is up to speed.
I shall be going up the M6 tomorrow afternoon passing Preston and Carnforth....anybody any suggestion as to where I might watch the game if come off the Motorway?

Son who lives in London going on ...says £34 for a ticket...can't see many away fans today.
I've been big critic of Ryan Lowe for the standard off football we have had to endure this season at home. To be fair he deserves credit for where we are in the table despite the goal difference.
There's also been definite progress ...we look to have reliable defenders , the midfield is taking shape as well McCann back next season...I expect Browne to be still around but we'll have to see what happens to DJ.(Whether or not he accepts a reduced wage or anybody else offers him better). If we can get Alvaro and Cannon back then we need another two forwards and a right wing back and it's a decent side. Big 'ifs' though as it is evident the wage bill is being slashed.
On paper QPR are much better than thetr results haver been...but I shall be disappointed if we come away with nothing.

We’ve sold 700, fair play at that price and add London travel on top, disgusting. QPR got a few injured players back including Willock and Chair. Dykes has had his issues as well and seems like he’s over them now. He bullied us at home.

Think it was 38 quid last season, upper tier behind the goal surrounded by flasks and blankets.

Could and should be winning this, shame it wasn’t Cannon who was clean through. Hopefully Browne’s injury isn’t serious, as much for the rwb option as anything else.
