Friday afternoon thoughts...
Team...
Storey Lindsay Hughes
Potts Alvaro
Whiteman
Browne Johnson
Cannon Delap
To my mind, despite this being a Derby and all the shenanigans that go on with this, surely we have to recognise (and by we, I mean RL):
1) They are one of the worst teams in the league and relegation certainties
2) They are shocking away from home, having lost the last 7
3) We therefore have to pick the most attacking line up we can
I think RL may go with Parrott ahead of Delap, but we'll see on that one. Tomorrow is one of those where we simply have to start well, get on the front foot and get that early goal. if we score first, it's game over. If we play negatively, Blackpool do have some pace in their squad and they could get in behind. Start well - win the game. Faff around and I can see us losing. My lad has just said to me, if we lose this one, he'd sack Lowe before the press conference!

It was never like this in the past. Been to Bloom field Rd many, many times with good-natured rivalry. I remember Joe Walton, our Left back & my Newsagent on Deepdale Rd., telling me that he always came off the pitch against Sir Stanley Matthews with sore ribs from the elbowing he got from him. Stan was not as quick as our Tom but was quick off the mark & you couldn't knock him off the ball. As an aside, it was never the Stanley Matthews Final they won - it was the Mortenson Final. Happy days

Great result.
Took our foot off the gas after the 3rd.
Mostly good performances all round.
DJ had a shocker. Anyone who thinks he merits another season at 20 grand per week needs to give their head a wobble.

Better performance and should have scored another couple at least from the good positions we got into. The 3 loan strikers all seem a bit too selfish and desperate to score. I rate Cannon though and would love him back next year.
Bleakpoo were pretty poor.
I actually thought DJ wasn’t too bad today, gave the ball away in some dangerous situations early on but I felt it was others not on the same wavelength. If he would take a bit of a pay cut, I’d be happy with a new deal if he would sign one-still the most creative player we have.
Reading and QPR over Easter! 6 points would be nice, to keep the season going a bit longer

In parts played as well as we have all season, out of the three goals thought Cannon's was the best of the lot
Alvaro outstanding, first half they looked like a side who had the letter R hanging over them personally thought Big Mick picked the wrong side, theye were better in the second half but as soon as the third went in it was hasta la Vista baby
Will now milk it for months to come

Enjoyable, the early goal -cracking take by Potts- eased the nerves. Thought back 3 had a good game, midfield 3 in charge and we have a focal man up front in Cannon. Alvarez excellent game Did enjoy Potts celebration
As it stands Brum 1 Plastics 0, Huddersfield 4 Boro 1 ….. 5 points off Plastics in 6th place

Anyone who thinks he merits another season at 20 grand per week needs to give their head a wobble. Bloody Hell! Talk about confirmation bias - most people round me thought he was a potential MOTM! Completely dominated down the left, created time and space for Hughes and Alvara over and over and over again! Sure he lost possession a couple of times but that was due to the movement, or lack of, ahead of him. For example, twice, the CF shaped to come short so DJ played the short ball, but Cannon and Parrott both span off for the ball in behind. Nobodies fault, just miscommunication. Some of the work DJ did retaining possession on tight areas was exceptional today. I guess we all see things differently… |

Too many games this season have been a hard watch...until the second half complacency this one was much more like it (thank you Mr McCarthy for not starting with the lad from Leeds and Bowler). There's a work in progress.....defensively we are OK but need to improve creativity and strike force for next season (would like to see Cannon back, this lad has got it...regrettably Parrot hasn't). Whiteman my MoM.

I also thought DJ had a good game probably our most creative player and covered a lot of ground defensively Parrot and Delap both really poor and agree with pneIAIN, Storey my mom hardly put a foot wrong today would love to have Cannon back next season although still a little green improving with every match and reminds me of the great NUGE |

I thought we were decent today. Back 4 solid and will be sorry to concede.
Wing backs good and Alvaro my MOM.
Can see why Whiteman may not be here next season.
Browne / DJ pair of workhorses.
Cannon - wish we could get him back.
Parrott - will he play for spurs?
Three superbly taken goals of real quality.
Picked the right time to do it.

Quite a few empty seats, should have let Blackpool have all the Kop then more of them could have been treated to a miserable day and PNE in decent form.
Having said that I really hope they stay up…..just, we need derby days and so do they.

So the day after (with a hangover!) My views on yesterday, if we played a little better we would of won by even more, they were very poor especially their number 4! However was impressed with their number 26, would be a good signing for us. As I said before my MOM Storey closely followed by Alvaro. DJ was hit and miss so still not sure about a new contract. Parrot tried to hard, lack of confidence I feel but Cannon is going to be a good player and hope we get him back next season. One final thought, how much weight has Maxwell put on since he left us?  Anyway a great day and it's not a West Lancashire derby as we are in Central Lancashire, Sky you numpties! |
