No chancers no blag no lies from anyone next season starts today. If it is bad news fine but you can kid some people some of the time but you can’t kid all of the people all the time.

I agree with this in many ways... but one caveat, let's start the planning now, and really get into it after the Lashers game...so, once that is done: 1) What is happening with Brady? If he's not staying, get Slater a few games 2) Woodburn? I'd rather see Mawene 3) Sort the DJ situation out 4) Get Browne signed on for another couple of years 5) What about RWB? Is Seary going to be good enough? I suspect not, but give him a game and find out. Loads more... keep going folks.

Absolutely starts now we’re safe. No big bucks just work much smarter. Squad still too big.

Looking forward to a big clear out and 5-6 new players. Freshen things up. Top half finish is slightly above par for me.
I’d have the loan players back for next season.

I want us to go out and win as many games as possible. No messing about with the squad. The next 8 games will determine the start of next season.

Afar: Have to disagree don't want total changes but with nothing to play for would like to see a couple of the youth team each week either starting or at least a decent time on as sub not the 5 bloody minutes most subs seem to get these days we need to have a look at just who if any can step up in a competitive match not pre season friendlies that mean nothing it is fairly clear already that some of the regular subs are just not good enough

Agree Oldun
I remember Alan Brown's debut in March 2014. He came on as an 18 year old sub v Peterborough with the score at 1-1. PNE finished up 3-1 winners and AB " drew praise for his contribution and work ethic" from Simon Grayson.
I also clearly recall how the senior pros talked him through the game, in particular midfield partner John Welsh.

Welsh had the ability to do this, I don't think Brown Leads the team never mind talk to players around him. The only player we hear talking to others is Evans and Woodman. If we are to blood these young lads we need to be supportive of them on the field and the players have a strong role to play in that.

I don’t think RL had a choice really - great to blood a few young lads but if he does and we lose he’ll get hammered and calls for his head. For his own sake he has no choice but to try and play his strongest team and win.

None of the younger players who have nade debuts so far nor the youth team look like having Championship potrntial to me....with one exception, Mawene. Need to give him game time...and I don't mean 10 minutes at the end of a match, I mean put him in the starting 11 for 3 or 4 games, even the rest of the season.
As for 'starting now' reality is that Prem clubs won't release loans until the season starts and agents will be telling p=layers not to sign anything until it's evident that there isn't anything else on offer. Our season will start in Sept.
And unfortunately we are stuck with contracted players who are nothing like good enough. Given the slashed wage bill the most we can hope for is more of the same with regards to the League position but that's OK by me as long as we don't have to suffer the same dross football.

Daws I think your contradicting yourself a little you correctly say that half the players we have are not championship standard but you have also championed in the past the lack of help given to our youth players I don't see how you can judge a young player on ten minutes with the first team or when playing with lads in the youth team that are struggling at that level we now have the opportunity to give some of them a good period of time to judge them honestly

All my working life I had to contend with "What if?" Do we have a fall back position. With regard to PNE & next Season we have a) no RB b) no fit Strikers c) aGoallie who could be poached from us with no-one else for that position. If I were the Riddler, I would be looking for replacements - but they will cost money. We don't have anyone, so we will be plumbing the Out of Contract players, Frees etc. Not very inspiring. We just have to survive but I would pose the question "How are we going to find players, currently at a lower level, who we can sign and improve? It can be done but not by the Riddler - unless they are injured, on a free and make a marvellous recovery. Very sad. Please go and make another FC bust. 😭

Metaphorically ‘todays game aside’ what I tried to relate was a real and forthright conversation at the top level that what we are doing as a club is not working. Getting players etc and being told by Dawson et Al is frankly insulting my intelligence.

'Today's game aside' is literal, it's not a metaphor. It's a great big world and it takes all sorts. This is a football forum and not a meeting of Mensa. Quite frankly it seems to me that pulling someone up over their use of grammar is the act of a pratt. I am sure that you are not really a pratt Dawsonsj, surely this site is above such things. IMHO.

Given Evans retirement and Riis who suspect will not play before Christmas we will need at least 4 forwards in next season and as we know they don't come cheap highly impressed with Morgan who played against us on Saturday, more than decent however will need someone in the Evans mould with experience Also slightly left field literally if we need a left wing back James McLean forget all the baggage that comes with him, he is a great crosser of a ball and will give 100% all the time yeplikely to start an argument in an empty room but highly experienced player. As for this season it would be great to blood youngsters ut we have gameas against QPR, Millwall and Sheff U plus the bog dwellers from Ewood which have issues riding on them at both end of the table so playing youngsters is a no no. The games at Swansea and the last game against Sunderland perfect opportunitie to lob a couple of kids in

I’m looking at 6 points from the next 2 games and still having something to play for. Beat Swansea, beat the plastics, Sheffield will already be promoted by the last game, so another easy 3 points..
Batter Boro at Wembley in the Playoff final and we can look forward to playing Citeh in the 1st game of next season “with no forwards”

Tin hat on. Should we be looking at someone like Jerry Yates? Grafter. 13 championship goals and 6 assists. Played 40 games. He’s heading for league one. One year on his contract.

Yes I’d say so, but imagine a few clubs higher in the pecking order might be interested. Similar situation and stats to Cauley Woodrow from Barnsley who ended up at Luton. Who I had down as having a good season, but he’s only scored 1 in 23 when I’ve looked it up.
