Saturday is seeming to take its time coming this week, is it really only Wednesday? I thought I'd get the thread up early to try and stimulate some discussion. Nothing happening really right now, mid table, no transfer window and gossip, so things always quieten off until match day.
So, Cardiff roll into town this weekend, with Lamouchi's Lads depleted through the lack of firepower. Sadly for them, their top scorer, best player and all round good egg Callum Robinson is sidelined for a few games due to a hamstring strain. The fact that Cardiff have struggled to score goals all season, coupled with Robbo's absence, could lead to a turgid affair. I suspect Cardiff will sit back and try to hit PNE on the counter, and we will have to be patient to find the killer pass to unlock a decent defence. With this in mind, we will have to return to the gung ho 'attack with 6, defend with 4' approach that Ryan Lowe has utilised to great effect at Deepdale all season (sarcastic? Me?).
Cardiff currently sit 6 points outside the relegation zone, and will be desperate for the points. If they extend that gap to 9 points, the teams in the bottom 3 are basically down. Not sure who's below them as I haven't looked at the league table for a while!
I would hope that our team brings its attacking game - I do genuinely believe that should we manage an early goal at Deepdale at some point, the floodgates will open and someone will get a proper spanking. Whether or not this is Cardiff remains to be seen. A repeat of this would be ace! news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7990060.stm
The team I would select would be:
Woodman
Storey Bambo Greg
Potts Whiteman Alvaro
Browne DJ
Cannon Parrott
I think the key is making sure the CDM is on his own in there, with Wing Backs covering rather than Browne or DJ.
Cardiff is a great city - last time I was there, I met Davros. Excellent place and I do hope they stay up.
I found this story about Jason Bowen on my travels around the web... very sad to read. Good luck Jason. Keep fighting.
news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7990060.stm I knew Len Johnrose and was involved at the early stages of his illness and it was dreadful to see someone going through so much. Jason, the football family are with you.
