Preston North End V Coventry Tuesday 28th February 2023 Deepdale Stadium KO 7.45pm Despite the booing and jeering on Saturday, I feelt the gloom had partially lifted by 5pm. Had we lost, the metaphorical knives would have come out and the atmosphere inside Deepdale would have been toxic. Unconvinced the fan base wandered off and discussed the game over a pint. I found myself in the Adelphi with some Wigan fans who were rattled on two fronts. Firstly the decision to award a penalty and second the rather strange behaviour of the PNE faithful booing their team back on to the pitch after half time. To me there were some clear positives and I would include the performances of Cannon and Parrott. However, I feel the fans will only be appeased with another victory V Coventry City on Tuesday night. History backs us. Coventry lost won at Deepdale when rationing was the norm in the UK after the second world war in 1949. With rationing again order of the day, I really hope there isn't an upturn in the sky blues fortunes. Furthermore, they have lost 4 out of the last 5 away games so here's hoping we can grab three points and go level with them in the table. North End will have to make do without the suspended Robbie Brady, who stupidly collected two bookings after being introduced as a substitute. However, Ben Whiteman and Ched Evans are both in a position to return after serving bans of their own, with the former most likely to be recalled in midfield. Patrick Bauer may replace Greg Cunningham in the back three after the Preston skipper from the weekend needed to be withdrawn late on through injury. Coventry will be forced into at least one change with Kasey Palmer having sustained a muscle injury at the weekend. Although Josh Wilson-Esbrand was introduced on that occasion, Matt Godden may be recalled in what could be the only alteration. Preston North End possible starting lineup: Woodman; Diaby, Lindsay, Bauer; Potts, Whiteman, Johnson, Fernandez; Browne; Parrott, Cannon Coventry City possible starting lineup: Wilson; McNally, McFadzean, Doyle; Norton-Cuffy, Hamer, Eccles, Bidwell; Allen; Gyokeres, Godden

Not gonna make this one, got some training I’m delivering in Rawtenstall and not due to finish until after 7pm. Given that I’ll be leaving home for work at 8am and will already have done 10k run before then, I think I’m going to go home for some tea instead!
Cov have many injuries. Evans back. DJ has to start.
3-0 PNE

It will probs be the case if Cunningham and Hughes aren’t available.

Im hoping the team and the fans turn up with confidence and perform well.
We're not going down so why not go for it and see how well we can finish the season.

Hope I’m wrong about Diady not just on spelling his name. And he plays a man of the match game if picked.

Going to be a tough match. Coventry have won their last 3 and only lost 1 out of 5.

Tough game, but like Wigan, we always seem to get a result off Coventry at home.
5 points of the play offs with a win. Lowe working miracles with this lot.

The possibility of a back 3 with Bauer and Lindsay is terrifying but i can see it being Diaby Bauer Lindsay with Potts and Fernandez.
Ledson DJ and Browne TC and Parrot
Ched always seems to need 3 games to get up to speed.
I can see a big loss tonight

Red Button Sky Fernandes and Johnson different level than anybody in a North End shirt. Ledson Potts means we are 9 against 11. Better energy Bambo steady Evans back to the usual can’t trap a bag of cement our captain Brown needs to influence the game more. Where did it all go wrong for him? A real shame it’s average but not turgid my god we are a million miles away from the good teams ability wise. That said I have not switched over yet.

Agree with most of that, Sup, but Evans has deserved his start over Parrot (although he should have buried that chance). Decided to watch from my armchair .

After watching them v Sunderland Saturday thought we were in for a tough night, credit Bambo Gyorkes never a threat, Alvarez my MOM followed by DJ Why take Ched off absolutely no focal point without him in there, Delap stealing a living as a ‘footballer’ that miss 4 yards out, open goal absolutely criminal

Thought we shaded it but glaring chances missed. Safe now.

To be fair, huge improvement on recent home performances.
Alvaro and DJ outstanding but the subs offered nothing, ball wouldn’t stick with Ched but the double change blunted us. Delap offered nowhere near the movement of Cannon.
I was worried about the mobility of the back 3 but it kind of worked tonight, kept the lad up top quiet.

Defence very decent against a very mobile attack. Clean sheet. Game felt 3 hours long though.

There was a little more character and spirit from the side tonight, which was appreciated. Too many times this season we haven't turned up from the start of the game. On reflection a draw was probably the right outcome, both sides had opportunity to score but fluffed their best chances. On another day Ched would have buried the chance in the first half, was please with the link play between him and Cannon. This looks a lot more promising that Delap and Parrot.
