Preston North End vs Burnley I think we are all familiar with the History of Burnley, so I am not going there. However, this will be our first visit to Turf Moor since 2015, and I think my last away Match. Sadly, getting too old for them these days. You can replace the Hips and Knees but not the aches and pains! Manager Ryan Lowe confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Ben Whiteman and Troy Parrott - who both missed the previous fixture through injury - are back in training. Emil Riis and Lewis Leigh remain the only absentees, with the rest of the squad available for selection for Saturday's Lancashire derby. Burnley head into the weekend’s game in a rich vein of form, having won each of their last nine Championship fixtures, and 13 of their last 14.Having lost just twice all campaign, Vincent Kompany’s men are comfortable leaders of the division, with a seven-point gap between themselves and second place, and a 17-point cushion to third. Faced with these facts the game does not look encouraging for North End Supporters. However, I was there when we won with a Penalty Kick &, if Everton beat Arsenal, then we can beat Burnley on the day. In fact, if RL goes back to his Tactics of early Season, we can get them on the Counter and win 1-0. We can only dream! The facts prove that we have won 53, lost 52 and drawn 27, so anything can happen. I have to say that, at the start of the Season, I thought that they would struggle with a new Squad but Vincent Company has done an excellent job with his young team & there is a Moroccan, Anass Zaroury , who is creating a stir & represented Morocco at the World Cup. The Bookies are quoting 11/20 Burnley to win & a 72% chance for that at 2-0, Draw 16/5, and PNE to win 31/5 – looking very bleak then. So how is RL going to set up his team for this game? I think that there can be little doubt that he will play 3 at the back & that 3 picks itself. I don't believe that we can play 2 young Strikers with Evans, who deserves his place on recent performances. If we are going to pose a threat going forwards then we need DJ behind 2 Strikers but he does not enjoy the Manager's confidence just now and RL may settle for a Defensive MF to bolster MF. Browne & Brady, against his old team would be my choice for Wbs, together with Whiteman/McCann/Ledson in MF. Upfront with Evans, I have no preference but Delap has more experience but possibly Parrot – but he has shown no ability to score Goals so far. What do I know though. Prediction 2-1 to Burnley, but those of you in the Pebble League will recognise that my Predictions are not very good! Have a great day those supporters travelling to Turf Moor & cheer on the Lillywhites for me, we may get a Result.

I get what you mean about aches and pains…..but I will be there. Don’t really like coming away after the match at Turf Moor, it can be a bit intimidating! They are going mad so can’t see us getting anything, a point would be great, three would be even better. After that I’m going for a 0-1 win and another week of posts asking why oh why can’t we do it at home!

Thank you walburghian for supporting the forum with a thread again, and at short notice too. Massively appreciate this. Can’t say I’m looking forward to the match but it’s a day out I guess!

Are you driving or public transport? Driving - it’s only 10 miles for me and gonna park at Towneley and walk down. Think I’m getting the 12.45 train so get into Burnley Manchester road for 13.20. Not sure if there are any away designated pubs or just to head straight to the ground.

From there to Turf is probably home only pubs, Royal Dyche etc… you’ve a chance if you try the pub just opposite there, but it’s one of those awful frozen food family places!

I’ll see if anything comes up on social media or the other site for pubs to drink in, I’ll just head straight to the ground if sounds unlikely.
Ideally I’d have a couple in Preston and jump on the 13.45 train but don’t want to risk a last minute delayed or cancelled train!

I used to go with Burnley Supporters and visit the Working Mens Club opposite the ground. As long as you were comfortable with cheap Beer , swilling round your feet, it was acceptable because you knew where the Fans were coming from! Good luck to all our Supporters at the Match

My lad saw this as it happened, ‘Ched just punched their number 7’.
Brainless. On the plus side, it means we may now be able to play a pressing game.

missing 4 games for nothing more than a tussle!! when you think Wells should have gone 100% its pretty annoying, if teh ref had have seen it, it would have been a yellow at a push!!!! on the up side it means we may stop with the silly 3 up front option!!!
also seen Pearson whining that the deepdale pitch is too soft and caused injuries!!!!

Is Towneley car park the safest option? There doesn't appear to be many others. I think so, it’s only a ten minute walk up a main road so should be ok. The surrounding area (Burnley Wood/Brunshaw) is beyond sketchy but it should be ok I think. Head down and walk quietly!

I’m dreading tomorrow, can’t see anything other than a straight forward win for Burnley with us putting up next to no fight, hopefully I’m wrong. Not looking forward to their pace and movement against our back line.

First of all never see this as a derby we are as close to Everton as what we are there. Sadly we are on a different financial planet I know as a fact if they did not get promoted they were finished they gambled Barry Kilby era and won, the rest is history. I wont lose sleep either way what I will say about Burnley everybody who lives there support their team you wont see a United City Liverpool Everton shirt in their town. Sadly unlike Preston ,food for thought for the club sadly I do not think so

Cannot believe it, especially as the only way you would forsake PNE would be for watching Premier league teams - beating Everton. 😂

Thanks walburghian, always some entertaining games at Turf and lots of controversy For those driving my colleague from work did that once and her car wasn’t there when she returned never to be seen again Don’t like the wide wooden seats on away end but wasn’t too bad the day Nuge and Grezza combined to score that cracking goal Talking of aches and pains just out of hospital yesterday, horrid accident, head full of stitches, broken right wrist and 8 fractured ribs so please PNE no more pain needed today ….. Did fancy a sneaky 1 0 to us before the Ched news but fear they may have a pantomime

Well I shall be setting off in a minute (with a gym and swim stop after I've left home). note no Evans through his own stupidity (but typical of the way I long ago lost any faith in the way football is governed the player who should have seen red on the day, Wells, goes unpunished).
To some extent I don't mind Evan's absence,,,it gives us more mobility and movement at the front. There's not many players in the PNE squad I wouldn't swap for the Clarets and, of course, there is a manager who has been there, seen it and got the T shirt,,,,as opposed to?
Irony, of course, is that Burnley is a small dump cf Preston...although I much admire the way the locals get behind the team. On the other hand they have had something to get behind. Down to superior off-field management.....yes in very many respects but not in others. First time they went, up and subsequently triggered parachute money, they has some enormous luck being free from injuries and able to field the same team.
I travel in hope. questioning my own sanity. A plea that will go unheard...due to old injuries I can't stand for 90 mins (arthritis in right foot and knee) I've cut down on away games because I'm fed up with not being able to see through those standing in front of me. I wish those who choose to stand would show some consideration for those who can't.

First of all Gina hope you are on the road to recovery you are a top person on this forum. Daws sadly most of the young lads who follow PNE away are leathered through alcohol or they have been sniffing the old Bolivian Marching powder. As I said not really bothered I will be on my way to Scarborough for a few days I know after the game there will be more questions than answers. For those going be careful out there the 'last of us' was inspired by Burnley and its folk.

This has got a north end win written all over it hasn’t it?
Have a good day to everyone travelling today. Remember, don’t look them in the eyes, they might get aggressive! It’s a long winter for them folks with no central heating.

It would be good if those attending have something to cheer about, some excitement, witness some leadership on and off the pitch, see players expressing themselves whatever the outcome.
To borrow from John Shuttleworth "We live in Hope, but used to live in Barnsley".
P.S speedy recovery, Gina

Fortunately most of the tickets got sold to the boring fart ambassadors (like me) so not many left for the coke heads I hope. We’re about to set off. Minute’s applause in the 20th minute for a BFC employee, Denise MacLaren. Had worked there for 20 years and died in an accident at home last weekend. Hope our support respect this. Gina get well soon. Take good care.

Burnley playing great football and the wingers are causing us nightmares. It's only 1 down so who knows in the second half. Need to change something though.
