Saturday 28th January 6pm Kick Off

Preston North End welcome Spurs to Deepdale in this years FA Cup fourth round as one of the feature games of the weekend. England captain Harry Kane is expected to play following his involvement in the previous round and manager Contes obvious respect for the trophy. Only two sides can boast more wins in the cup than Tottenham although their last triumph was over 30 years ago a match which our BBC host Gary Lineker actually missed a penalty in .
The Lilywhite Shirt
Preston North End became the first club to achieve a league and FA Cup double giving them a unique right along with Reading (Royal borough club )to be the only clubs allowed to dictate the colours they choose to wear in any match even forcing home teams to change their shirt if they so require. Prestons lilywhite shirts and blue shirts are said to have been the inspiration for Spurs own choice of colours.

Teams for the fixture
Following last weeks away win at Brum team selection will be a tough call for Ryan Lowe but Troy Parrot is unlikely to feature against his parent club. Ched Evans could be pushing for a start following injury and Brady is expected to keep his place. Spurs could give a start to Brazils world cup star Richarlison and he recovers from his injury along side Spurs soon to be record scorer Kane.

Previous meetings
The last time the two clubs met was in 2009 when a Peter Crouch hatrick and goals from Jermaine Defoe and Robbie Keane secured the win 1-5 for Harry Rednapps side (hopefully a score that wont get repeated), another notable player that night was a young Gareth Bale . Chris Brown scored the only goal for Preston .

It wasn't all bad , in 1996 the two sides met in the league cup when in the home leg we managed a 1-1 draw with a late Michael Holt equalizer before losing 3-0 at White Hart Lane a few days later.
One thing that does stand out is how the foreign invasion has taken over football in the last 30 years , in this game only one player Allan Neilsen was not from home shores.
Tickets
The club expects a bumper crowd even though it is filling the primetime Saturday night slot on the BEEB , Gary Lineker and Danny Murphy will be hoping that no one brings an extra mobile phone they don't need to the game and happens to stick it to the make shift studio. If you know you know!!

Preston is unique in that the local police do not allocate official away pubs and actively encourage well behaved fans to enjoy all the pubs in the city, check out our local beer guide and away day thread via this link. pebbleleague.com/thread/9597/match-day-beer-food

Just watched Darvel ( village south of Kilmarnock in Ayrshire) beat Scottish Prem Aberdeen in the FA Cup...1-0.
Anything is possible.
Need to stick it up 'em.

ProudPreston29,great work and far better than I could have done. Love it. As to the Match, my prediction is 4-1 to Spurs and, after watching them being outplayed by Fulham & winning with their only shot on Goal, its about right. Just being realistic. However, an early goal could shake their confidence & they have allowed this many times this Season.

Seem to recall us giving a good account of ourselves for a while in that 2009 game. Obviously scoreline didn't suggest so but we were competetive for a while and had chances. With Nolan and Hart at fullback no less.
Brown was on a good run that season. Got about 9 or so early on but don't think he did much after that.
Would be a very North End thing to beat them at home in the cup then be crap against Bristol City...

How strong of a line up did you go with for Boro last season? I see you went pretty strong against Portsmouth so expecting similar. Can imagine Kane will be chomping at the bit to bit to seal that record. Downside of him doing that though I guess will possibly leave him thinking job done and push for a move in the summer. I can’t see him leaving the prem as I’m sure he’s desperate to beat the Shearer record as well. If he can add a couple of trophies then he can retire a very proud man. Tottenham, England and Premier League record goalscorer.

What I would say is that historically, in games of this nature, we usually start well. Arsenal 2 up against Vieira and Petit etc. Got beat 2-4 Man U the other year 1 up through Laird and then Rooney cheated them through Arsenal again - Robbo putting us ahead only for Giroud to undo us. Liverpool we were in it all the way (twice) We do, however, always lose!

There are plenty of pubs that will serve away fans, but as the ground is away from the City Centre, you may have a bit of a walk (20 minutes/half an hour) from there. If you follow @pnepolice on Twitter, PC Elliot usually gives some sound advice to travelling supporters.

Afternoon All. Spurs fan from TFC here. I’ll be at the game as a long suffering STH. Looking forward to the trip up to Lancs, the game, the ground and hopefully sampling some good local beer. Just hoping we’re not playing in our away kit as my eyes are still hurting from last night at Fulham.

Good afternoon PNE. As another Spursy Supporter I also come in peace, for now Won't be at the game, but as one of the few proud license holders left in the country, I shall be watching the match legally on the good old BBC. I must say it makes a change for us to be playing a proper club who are about our level. COYS

Good afternoon PNE. I must say it makes a change for us to be playing a proper club who are about our level. COYS I personally quite like Parrott, he hasn't scored the goals we had hoped for but before his injury he seemed to be settling in to Championship football. Now that we are really good pals, once the battle is over, maybe you could give us the heads up on the even better youngsters you want to loan out before the opposition get on to them. If you have read any of our forum you will know we are a bit skint and couldn't throw a lots of dosh your way but we would look after them well. I believe you have a young guy called Kane that you have loaned out a couple of times, could you do us a deal there on the cheap? You can take your pick from our squad to compensate.
