Preston North End Huddersfield Town FA Cup 3rd round Saturday 7th January 2023 KO 12pm Deepdale stadium Having enjoyed another cheeky away win in the league at Stoke, it's back to Deepdale hoping the FA cup 3rd round tie against Huddersfield will provide some light relief from the toil of our home league form. It will be a different affair no doubt and a run in the cup would do the club and supporters a world of good. I note we beat Huddersfield in the 1938 FA cup final at the empire stadium. A penalty secured a 1-0 win for the lilywhites. Not our last FA cup final appearance, but the last time we were victorious. So we move on to saturday. An early kick off and very sensibly priced tickets should secure a reasonable turnout at Deepdale. Would love to be in the hat for the fourth round so let's hope we field our strongest available side. Team newsRyan Lowe confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Emil Riis is currently in a brace after suffering a knee injury in the first half of Monday’s victory over Stoke City. The Dane will be seeing a specialist in the coming days and only then will PNE know how long the forward will be sidelined for, but the manager said “the likelihood of losing him for a bit is very high”. Irish duo Robbie Brady and Troy Parrott are both back in training now and have a chance of making this fixture, but it will be a case of monitoring their progress on Thursday and Friday. Jordan Storey and Sean Maguire are both unlikely to feature. Our VisitorsAfter beating Huddersfield Town away from home twice earlier this season, PNE hosted the Terriers at Deepdale on Boxing Day, with the side from West Yorkshire coming out on top. Mark Fotheringham’s team went on to win their next game in a clash with Rotherham United, before starting 2023 with a home defeat to Luton Town. They’ve still got work to do to get themselves out of the Championship bottom three, but on Saturday the focus will be solely on progressing to round four of the FA Cup. Enjoy the game. Thanks Phantom Winger, think we will be up8 for this. Neither team scores goals, so RL will have to find a team that can score. Apart from Evans & Johnson, don't know where a goal comes from

I’ll be there, taking the 5 year old on.
I wouldn’t change too much, had nearly a week since Stoke and got a week until the next game. Players returning from injuries need minutes.
Woodman
Diaby Bauer Hughes
Browne McCann Whiteman Alvaro
DJ
Evans Cross-Adair
Sounds like Parrott and Brady are close to returns, would be a welcome boost to see them on the bench.

If it’s fringe players I’m fuming. The locals aren’t backing the fixture just yet. Be struggling for 5k.

Youth team game this morning.
No Seary, Mawene, Slater, O Neill or even Felipe! Wonder if they’ll be involved? I’d get Felipe on so he can make history, even if it’s just in injury time.

HT 0-0
In control but not really looking like scoring. Seeing the difference Ched makes up front.

1-0 to Huddersfield, despite 64% possession but online is 1 shot on Target. No surprise there then. Who is Kamara on the Subs bench?

Delighted for Bambo. He's looked so much better at RCB. And made a difference at both ends today.

Apparently, Kamara is a 17yr old & made his debut in injury time, replacing Browne - so he's a RWB or RW. Not included in any PNE Club roundup. Good luck to the lad, hope he has a good career.

So much better 2nd half when they stopped piddling around with it at the back and got it upfield, Bamboo took his goal like a well versed forward, Good game for him made an immaculate tackle to stop them scoring when clean through, rightfully MOM, also Browne, DJ, Woodburn and McCann 2nd half Young lad Kaedyn Kamara nearly scored on his debut with his first touch Need to stop the laborious pass pass pass around the back who cares about stats it’s the result that matters In the hat for round 4 job done

McCann moved to rwb and the lad played cm. Not a bad 2nd half with some decent football through the middle of the park. Just nothing up front, i would say Woodburn had one of his best games for the club. Young lads look a long way from 1st team ready. Bam💥 bo had a great game at both ends but I’d still bring Storey back as he looks a bit less likely to make a mistake!

Good second half and some very decent performances- Woodburn, Johnson, Browne, Alvaro, Hughes, Bambo, Ledson all good.
The young lads are not contributing in the striking department. Need a loan.

Agree on the young lads. Really struggling to make an impact. Definitely shows what poor opposition they play week in week out. Probably not read for league football and a conference loan could do the world of good. Feel for mikey a bit as he's not had much game time and got thrown in up front on his own with very very little service.

Enjoyed the second half, very entertaining. Browne looks good when he drives forward but needs to do it more. Bambo excellent as was Woodburn. Those who say he’s lightweight and lazy proven wrong (again!).
FCA looks good to me. Runs well off the ball and pulls defenders with him. Created loads of space for DJ second half which Mikey didn’t, as Mikey tried to run the channels every time , which is fair enough as he’s not a natural number 9. Alvaro need another season with us as he’s good, but a million miles of being ready for Premier League.
Also want to credit Ledson. Played calmly and with discipline throughout in Whiteman role excellent stuff.
Final word goes to the referee. Weak.
Hoping for City or United away as me and the lad are out in Manchester the Friday night and are staying over. May as well make a weekend of it!

I think he's a very decent squad option for us. He's not a striker and better use outside of the box. He's got qualities we haven't got elsewhere in the squad - a first touch, ability to turn when receiving the ball, has a decent shot from outside the box (something the rest of our midfield struggle severely with), and draws a foul well. I noticed 4 fouls he drew today. 2 should have amounted to a sending off, and 1 got another player booked and gave us the fk for Bambos goal. I understand he's missed several really good chances recently and that's frustrating (and probably the reason people are on his back), but I think we've a decent little player on our hands.

Nephew got tickets and unfortunately they were row 4 behind the goals, not the best place to watch the game.
The one thing you do get though is a close up of the shenanigans that go on at in the penalty box, especially at corners etc.
Two things that I noticed more were, the ref wasn't shy about telling them about the holding etc that goes on at corners and you don't need to worry about Woodburn, or Cross-Adair for that matter about being "lightweight" they are quite stocky and have muscles on muscles.

The only time I’ve sat in the Town end was row 4ish and I agree it’s not great. It was V Derby years ago when Davies returned. makemineapint, hope you enjoyed the game. Good atmosphere when some football is being played.

Ended up sat in the area with the players family and friends, had a mess up with my tickets. Ordered them a couple of weeks ago, me and my little lad, both in our season ticket seat. Didn’t remember them saying I needed to pick tickets up so I called the ticket office last week to confirm they had been loaded onto the season card, which they confirmed they had. Gets to the ground (luckily pretty early) and the little lads flashed red. Steward on the turnstile had a little tablet and checked the card, game wasn’t loaded and advised to go to the ticket office 😡
Walk round to the main ticket office, long queue for buying tickets and collection, wasn’t sure which I needed to be at. Thought sack this I’ll go round to the town end only ticket office, queue there as well. Getting annoyed half expecting them to send me back to the main office/collection point when some guy comes over and says do you want these 2 free tickets I’ve just got off Alan Browne. Thank you very much, saves me queuing and trying to explain the situation!
