Not contract news but good news Phantom Winger, mid010101, thefutureisbrown, dawsonsjs, superiorno1pne, walburghian, [email protected], Mooney, daveoggy, px6, themaclad, pnebraddy87, Good news, would have been available to Scottish clubs on a pre-contract from January. Deserves his extension. There's a couple of others I'd be looking to extend - cant remember the whole list of ooc players but Ledson and Brady should be given new deals for me. I think Brady has proven himself to be useful and probably one of our better players (could do with scoring a couple though). And I think Ledson is a decent squad player. Not a patch on Whiteman though, who we didn't half miss in the last game.

Hopefully the club has started discussions with Brady and Ledson, problem with sorting Lindsay is that if we haven’t at least spoken with the others it’s showing them they are gone. Ched, DJ, Seani are all mature members of the squad that could cause a lack of harmony.

For me worth offering Brady and Ched a deal If DJ could replicate his game last Saturday he would defo be offered a contract, but he’s an expensive player and can he/will he produce that performance every week? In fairness to him just play him in his best position and see, best ratter ever!! Bambo got to be on the road !!

Whilst I agree Bambo has not been good, I think it's worth noting that most wanted Lindsay and Evans gone not too long ago. With a bit of patience and coaching, Lowe is getting a tune out of what we had all written off as deadwood. Potts and Cunningham further examples. This is something that has really impressed me recently and is absolutely essential if we aren't going to have any kind of transfer budget. Hope for Bambo yet! Both him and Pat have had such little game time though.

DJ... I'm going to come off the fence on this fella and say exactly what I think!
To me, he is the single most talented player that we have and, when played in the right system, with a team playing to his strengths, he is superb at this level. Admittedly his form has been patchy in recent months, but for me a big part of this issue is that generally, DJ has played with a 'single pivot', which is what I believe the technical term for a single CDM may be! In this situation, DJ spends a great deal of time out of the game, tracking back, chasing men and closing off space for passes. He won't thunder into tackles, as that isn't his game, so games like this often pass him by and he gets hooked/generally slated for not doing well. When we play with 2 CDMs (double pivot!) as we did on Saturday, DJ can focus on closing down the back three/four, pressing high up the pitch, forcing errors and ultimately creating chances. Watch our first goal on Saturday back... Ledson, Evans and Woodburn getting credit for this - and rightly so, but why did Wharton panic and pass the ball to Ledson? DJ. Closing down, pressing, harrying from the front.
I know this is a minority view - in fairness, mine often are! I'd sit down, speak with DJ, tell him he was central to the plans, give him a new deal on a 1+1 basis, with massive appearance/assist/goal contribution bonuses. Around 300 appearances, over 50 goals... how could we seriously replace this quality and experience within our budget? Or are we all hoping Mawene/Woodburn can do this?

I agree DJ is one of best players without doubt but if we aren’t playing to his strengths then he can’t be our top earner. I’d love him to stay on, on a reduced contract but think on a free others will match and beat his current deal. Been a pne legend imo and possibly the best signing in the last 15 years.

Ryan Nayambe is on a one year deal at Wigan who look like relegation fodder. Versatile defender available for no fee next summer.

It’s just as important to see who we can get off the books. Load of tripe in that squad.

He will never be the player he is and he had a stinker yesterday. Ledson is just not good enough given a new contract baffling. Rills I will drive him to any club that has the madness to take him .Potts the same. I am Brownys biggest fan however he can go (sadly his salary will keep him here) Maguire another one too injury prone. He has to go Ched Evans 34 ! Keeper hhhmm It goes on and on Ridsdale Lowe etc. I know financially we can’t compete but the football is turgid boring and we are devoid of pace. It’s not enjoyable or exciting. Will be fired up for the next game yes we might even get a surprise three points but we all know it won’t last. Finally the lack of tactical ability in our manager staggers me.

Exactly why does it stagger you superiorno1pne,? He's already demonstrated on more than one occasion , his ineptitude. Why couldn't we get Kompany/ Toure et al. Al is particularly good

Well the window is now open and time to see if all the speculation is just that or if any surprises are in store. I can't decide either way but until the ink is dry on any contract and the player is wearing our famous white and blue then I won't get excited so I won't feel let down. Have a happy New Year and get behind the team whoever comes whoever goes and whoever stays PNE will still be here and so will I.
