The Terriers: As long as I can remember Huddersfield Town have been The Terriers. It seems a distinct part of the club’s culture and heritage. But where did this moniker come from? The connection to Huddersfield lies with the ‘father’ of the Yorkshire terrier breed, Huddersfield Ben. Although not the first Yorkshire terrier to exist, Huddersfield Ben is commonly referred to as the foundation sire of the breed and was born, in Huddersfield in 1865. But it wasn’t until the 1969/1970 season that Huddersfield Town took the nickname. Prior to this, most fans referred to the club as The Town, and the club's mascots had included including a goat, a replica of Aladdin’s lamp, and a stuffed donkey. After a Mr Bill Brook became the promotion officer, he decided the club could do with a rebrand and settled on the Yorkshire terrier as the ideal mascot and moniker. And so, in the 1969/1970 season, the team wore blue and white striped shirts with the famous red terrier badge and the The Terriers nickname was born. As part of Brook’s rebranding efforts, the club also adopted their first terrier mascot, which was an actual Yorkshire terrier called Skippy. This would set off a long line of terrier mascots at the club, The name and mascot were initially announced in the home programme for the game against Bolton Wanderers on 27th September, 1969 Many fans at the time were against the identity change, preferring to simply keep the tradition of referring to the club as The Town. Nevertheless, the name stuck and since then the club has leaned into the terrier nickname, particularly through David Wagner’s managerial years, where the terrier identity was referenced constantly throughout promotion and the Premier League seasons. Managerial changes. Following last season's controversial Play-Off Final defeat to Forest (being denied two good penalty shouts) Carlos Corberán left in July 2022, shortly before the start of 2022–23 Championship season. Former Town player Danny Schofield was appointed as the new head coach, but he was sacked 10 weeks later after a poor start to the new season, to be replaced by Hertha BSC assistant coach Mark Fotheringham. Schofield's nine league games yielded seven defeats, prompting the Terriers to terminate his contract with the club 23rd in the Championship table. Players Although Lewis O'Brien and Harry Toffolo left for Forest in the off-season, the Terriers have recruited extensively with Michal Helik, Tyreece Simpson and Luke Mbete among the signings in the last transfer window. There has been a modest improvement in their home results under the new manager. [/div] [/div] Promises to be a truly dire match but North End should be well supported with over 2,000 fans there despite it being a midweek fixture. It's a architectural pleasing ground....but the parking and getting away are nightmares. My advice, get there early...plenty of places to eat and drink. Can't honestly say I'm looking forward to it after the last two showings.

dawsonsjs, thank you so much for the thread. It’s a game I think we can win. Home games are the biggest headache right now.

Two massive games. Will Lowe survive two losses?
Personally want to see him have a full season minimum. Or at least until we sign a RB and a striker.

Two defeats and he’s toast IMV will be going but more in hope than expectation, 8 goals in 15 games and the ref we have tomorrow has done two of our games both 0-0 so we know what will happen

I think it would take something far more drastic than two defeats this week for Lowe to be shown the door.
I said before the start of this season that I could see no other option than drastic wage cutting.
If the club is available for sale then the one thing that would put any interested party off is the cost of just keeping us where we are.(Not the asking price because there's a formula for that and if it was offputting any party wouldn't take an interest in the first place). The club is not going to fork out for yet another change if it thinks this can be avoided.
If the Hemmings plan to keep the club then they havn't the same cash reserves as the dad have...no longer on S Times Rich List, estate will have been divided and death duties etc will have taken a chunk....and whilst I have no doubr Trust funds will have been set up accessing any to fund PNE is another matter. (Jack Walker set up a specific fund for this to fund Rovers...his £100m was soon gone).
No, I think we would need to be staring relegation in the face before Lowe gets the chop.....so on current form that means waiting till Christmas.
I'll be there too thema but I don't think I have ever (even in L2 days) gone to a match with such a lack of enthusiasm. If I had not bought a ticket last week I may not have even bothered...the performances (I can take the results) are just draining me.

Bought my iFollow ticket to watch it live. Theyre still my Team whatever, but would just like them to win tonight. They are in a bad run but not conceded over last 2 games, so not expecting a lot of excitement - just a WIN

I know we don't have a RWB but could someone remind Potts which direction we are playing. Every Passfrom him is backwards, stunting our forward movement. Possession is OK but the objective is to get into the Penalty area & score. It is so obvious.

In fairness, every pass to him has been behind him, made a couple of good bursts forward but the ball from Storey cut off every time. Risk free football. Dull.

A win is a win & 3pts. Looking at the difference between Hernandez and the rest of the Team, he is always looking for the return pass &/or his movement forwards. Potts etc are static. Maybe they have to try too hard to control the ball before they look up but it is rare that anyone else passes and moves. Most passes are sideways and backwards - safety first.
