At least we have a keeper for pre season!! Good signing, if we can 2 -3 more similar with 3-4 top loans we can start to get excited

For me, this is what appears to be an excellent signing. He's young, should have decent sell on value (sorry Nextie, I know you hate it when I mention this!), has good premier league academy pedigree, achieved high standards in this division already. All the signs are positive - in many ways, it's a signing that is similar to when we signed Declan Rudd. Same kind of back story in many ways. Without being rude to Dec, I think this lad seems to have a higher ceiling. I also feel that, having read this: www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/freddie-woodman-preston-newcastle-signing-24283560he seems to be the right type of character. Last thing... I read somewhere last night that in his discussions, he had spoken with an ex-PNE player (Pearo maybe?) who had nothing but positives to say about the club and support. First of 4 or 5 good signings and I'll be happy. Striker, RCB and Wing Backs next please Riddler! |

Really dislike the BBC the Woodman signing hasn't made it onto the BBC Website yet!

Woodman looks like a decent signing and it is a permanent deal which makes a big difference . I do not mind increasing the value of a player and selling him, as long as the profit is reinvested in the playing staff and is not used to pay the salaries.
We have signed some dross over the years and it is pretty obvious to many when the signings are made . It is not a question of slagging off signings for the sake of it, we are not going to make a silk purse out of a sows ear and when we sign a sows ear it is not unreasonable to state the fact.
That is my issue with Seddon at LEP . Not once have I read an article with him being critical of anyone the club have signed or anything they have done. That is not a balanced critique and makes many of his comments lacking in integrity .

I have to agree he is not or was never allowed his own view unlike the Liverpool echo their journalists can make a difference. I thought he did well considering he had a hand tied behind his back.In the Baxi years if you questioned Bryan Gray he refused to speak to anyone.

At our level it’s a luxury to have 2 keepers battling for the number 1 position. We need a back up and that’s all he is, better for any money to be spent on wing backs and front men

Granted he’s not exactly an exciting signing but played 25 championship games last season and won’t be costing the earth, imo it’s a reasonable choice.
