 Tuesday 5th April 7.45pm
The biggest match at Deepdale in recent history sees Preston North End entertain Blackpool in front of around 20000 eager fans of both sides looking to get one over their local rivals.
For many younger fans this will be the first time they will have seen the intense rivalry and dare i say it hatred towards the opposition , for the fans in the older brackets this fixture brings with it reminders of the games of the 70s 80s and 90s often in the lower divisions and for our oldest fans games at the top end of the league.
Players scoring in this fixture can take on god like status such as Super Tommy Clarke attained with his last minute goal a few years back.
Who put the ball in the Blackpool net ?
There are other players who have divided opinion like Tony Ellis who played for both sides even scoring in the fixture couldn't save him from being called Judas by certain groups of fans ( i ProudPreston29 personally loved him)

Who will win , honest answer i'm not sure hopefully Ryan Lowe will have the boys up for the game and it will be the lilywhites with the bragging rights .
Prediction 2-1 Memories shared below from PNE From Afar : Here's my starter and probably one of my best moments watching PNE. Atmosphere, result, pre-match on Meadow street. The lot!
I enjoyed a game at Deepdale when Gary Bennett scored 2 against Blackpool and if im not mistaken a year later when he returned to the club a year or so later playing for a rival he received a heroes welcome during a fire evacuation in the town end
Who put the ball in the Blackpool net ? Beware the next video contains some choice language but does include a little stand comedy clip centred around the rivalry Maybe a little one sided these highlights , never mind... Current Tables

First mini holiday I went on with Mrs Mooney. Couple of nights in Blackpool, early summer 1994. Booked the Aloha Hotel, North Shore… saw it on Teletext! Booked it as the owners used to run The Pear Tree in Preston so mistakenly thought it’d be nicer than anything run by a lasher 😂😂😂 She’s still with me nearly 30 years later so it can’t have been that bad!

Carrying a groin strain so won’t be as quick as I’d been hoping, but still hopefully around 47 minutes maybe.

Lashers getting caned. 0-3 to Forest at HT! Watching them if we can out work them we’ll beat them.

Yes always the big derby for me UTW DTTB since college in Lasherland and sledging with the South Shore Crew nearly every day there lol Ryan Lowe needs to fire them up for this one after two poor showings away --Organised defence and go for three up front again Ched if fit , Archer and Riis from the off please imperative .
On Sky for flips sake will have to use cricfree dodgy box in Saudi cant get it on EFL ifollow .
Obviously would love to be there great atmosphere with lashers in attendance as PNE from Afar depicts in several videos above TC and Bennets goals , One of the best away was Mellor scoring when we were behind and Judas scoring hattrick in Gloomfield Road
UTW DTTB 3-1

Pleased to read that Mooney.
For me this is the proper Derby, the big one with historical reasons continuing into this century (just look at the way Blackpool Councillors stuffed the proposed £ multi-million development off Church St by spending over £1m of their rate payers money objecting to it and even though losing the legal argument effectively winning because during the 12 months public hearing the market collapsed and a major partner, John Lewis , pulled out of its £350m development contribution, and the whole scheme had to be abandoned)
In many respects I am sorry that Pool have only been given 2,000 tickets..I find such tit for tat a bit pathetic and |I'd like to see a full stadium. Presumably there will now be tarpaulin and space down the middle of the Kop.
As for PNE the team will certainly have to step uo Sat's performance ...it was seriously poor, partic the way Browne (can leave for me...fed up with his inconsistency) and Whiteman repeatedly gave the ball away.
Archer had no idea what was expected of him on Sat..started out on the left, switched to the right, and then disappeared. Needs to be played down the middle (and learn to release the ball quicker) and start with Riis. Potts needs bringing back in. Is Bauer fit?
Iversen VDB Bauer Hughes Potts Browne Whiteman DJ Cunningham Riis Archer
Rather see McCann in but know that's not going to happen.
I hope the players and Lowe have got the message...they will be judged on this one and performances will not be forgotten.

1 win in 6 now. Really poor form. Defeats creeping in. He needs McCann on that side. Works hard and can track back. Doesn’t give the ball away cheaply. The guaranteed comfort for Browne and Johnson at PNE might be part of the problem with the squad moving forwards. It needs ripping up and trimming down. So much waste.

I hope the players and Lowe have got the message...they will be judged on this one and performances will not be forgotten. Fairly sure the million quid spent on stopping the Tithebarn project was split equally with Blackburn and Blackpool. I suppose being frae up t’Brig and Bleakburn is just eight miles up the road v Bleakpool’s 18/20 I am more a Blackburn disliker. When I was at school the split was between PNE and Rovers, there was hardly a Manure or scouse in sight, although one lad was an Evertonian but they did have a decent team in those days. The Swan in Higher Walton had one end of the tap room decked in PNE photo’s and the other in Rovers. It was all just friendly banter in those days and we used to attend Deepdale one week and Deadwood the next but as time went on and things began to change you had to nail your colours to the mast. I guess that things are altogether different these days but it’s each to his own I guess.

Shame there’s nothing riding on this one. Well done to the club on maximising ticket sales.
Big question marks for me if McCann doesn’t start. Absolute scandalous DJ, Browne and Whiteman are getting more minutes.

Any thoughts on starting XI? I think back to 352 and a start for McCann instead of Whiteman.

Probably not going to this one, gutted, went to the pool and our performance was dire, lack of fight and passion. I'm worried as to how the team will perform, win lose or draw for goodness sake show some fight, guts, determination.

Not going tomorrow my nerves will be shredded if, and I think we will lose. We are a poor side and tbh I am not sold on Lowe yet. At least I can pour my self several and switch it off and pray my half term is not ruined.

Your team selection is probably going to be spot on, would much rather have McCann but doubt it will happen. No idea why as AB has been shocking.

Was sat with a guy & his son on Sunday at Wembley who were from Chicago and they were on holiday taking in football matches. They were tempted to go to Deepdale on Tuesday but plumped to go to watch Forest instead. They don't feel we market ourselves correctly. They didn't know anything about our history. Expect them to want it more than us and can see us losing a tight match 0-1. Will be going to Sheffield United v Bournemouth on Saturday as I don't want to contribute to PR or the unsavoury one's wages. Sutton United's season tickets for next season go on sale this morning. £239 for 23 games. They are limiting the initial release to 2,000 but they seem much more on the ball marketing wise. I see a lot more Sutton tops around Sutton these days than I see Preston tops around Preston.

If you’d sold the game properly they’d have gone to Deepdale over forest Not exactly supporting the club by going to Sheff Utd!! Bradford did cheap STs for several years and that didn’t work

I guess that he would have had 100 caps and 50 goals easily if it wasn’t for having to spend a few years in different battles against the German squad.

Any thoughts on starting XI? I think back to 352 and a start for McCann instead of Whiteman. I think we may see McCann but possibly on the left. He seems pretty fixed on Whiteman, Browne and Johnson. He doesn’t seem to see the merits of McCann yet which is a concern to me. He’s got a bit of everything and less prone to mistakes. I think Riis may miss out. Personally still buzzing from Mcr run Sunday so it will take a really poor performance to knock me off my perch. Hopefully won’t see that.
