Tolerance has limits. Whilst there are many occasions when I have disagreed with the opinion of another poster I have never made personal attacks on them (although coming close with Nextie who seems to enjoy provoking others with his rhetoric). Northender recently posted that he considered that I criticised him rather than what I thought I had done and deprecated his argument..I have had no problem in apologising to him for any inadvertent offence. Indeed I can not see that there is any mileage in it for anybody in ever giving vicarious offence.
Nelson can only be half-right in asserting that Walb has an issue with me because I am never wrong. He ought to be aware that this is not the case from just one example alone, Ledson. I was distinctly unimpressed with his early performances and said so, could not see what he had to offer other than an aggressive way of playing. I would now have a fit Ledson in my team every time.
It is far more than that with Walburgh. You will note that even after others have criticised him for 'trolling' he still does it. There have been numerous occasions when what could only be described as commentary, such as a view on an issue, have been followed by sarcastic comments. Frequently there has been no relation between the posting and what has followed. The following by far from being the most dramatic of examples or purposively insulting follow on (on one occasion I was told that posters were sick of me and wanted me off the site..it resulted in personal messages of support).
On this occasion on the Best Teams thread I posted (and I can not use the Quotes Nelson when copying from one Window to another)
' Sinclair remains not only the top scorer but the best one on the books,,,by some distance. But when you are not creating chances he is not going to be in the game..Teams are built from the back and, at the moment, we need players in a team with the physical ability to stop opponents playing through us like they do and to stop crosses coming in..'
' .....there needs to be emerge a team that can do a job for the remainder of the season...Teams are built from the back and, at the moment, we need players in a team with the physical ability to stop opponents playing through us like they do '
So I left Sinclair out of my starting line up (if Alf Ramsay could leave England's best natural goal scorer, Jimmy Greaves, out of his World Cup winning side I can leave Sinclair out of my imaginary starting team')
This was the response from Walb
'Amazing. You have finally acknowledged that we can't play Sinclair, when for weeks you've been saying he was our only Goalscorer. How quickly leopards change their spots. But I'm sure that you will find some post where you said the opposite - because you always do. That way you are never wrong. In the words of the song "O Lord its great to be humble, when you're perfect in every way"
As I say this is not the most offensive of responses...just 4 lines after all...but it gets extremely tiresome, boring and tedious when every post is followed by such unnecessary vituperative comments.
It's not just about 'never being wrong Nelson' you will note from his posts that Walb appears to be hung up on my qualifications (never specifically mentioned ever on these posts, not relevant and those who know mw know I don't even use them anyway) and experiences (well that's my life and I can't do much about past experiences). I have never contrasted such matters with anybody else but he feels need to exert his own credentials in comparison. In one recent 'reason to have a go' he even picked up on one word I used 'conflation' (the use of which I would not give any thought to) and made several lines personal allegations about thinking myself superior (whilst not an everyday word I credit Pebble readers, even if not familiar with it the meaning was obvious from the context).
I am just completely fed up with him, had enough...he's managed to take any pleasure out of participation away from posting (and it is important to me because whilst I have been out of Preston for a long time, Preston has never been taken out of me and I feel Pebble helps me to keep in touch, the postings are the sort of chats I would otherwise have were I still in Preston amongst fellow fans but don't get where I live).
Hence, regrettably for the immediate future, I shall be giving Pebble a miss...and no doubt making Walburgh's day.I've just had enough of every post being followed by a sarcastic comment, personal criticism or some other offensive comment. I don't need it.
I've often disagreed with you and I've often felt belittled like you judge me. That's a forum thing and whatever disagreement we've had I know one thing for sure. Pebble won't be the same without you so make your skin a but thicker. Inbox wally and have it out and come to a reasoning.
