Great management and great show of character if true 👍🤷♂️ In line with the Proud Preston moral code people where crying about last week. I wonder what Sir Tom would make of that attitude. Stop it chris. We need to be thankful for sir Trevor. Couldn’t agree more 👏

Stop it chris. We need to be thankful for sir Trevor. Exactly why? Not a silly comment, but would you rather support a team like Wycombe that gives 200% on Wages substantially below what North End are paying. I won't thank TH for chucking his own money down the drain by paying top Wages for average /below average players. Look, we got rid of Horgan but he put himself about much more than our lads when he came on. Are we really offering £18k to any of our players - nearly £1m. Crazy

Crazy If we had players of the Wycombe standard people would not be satisfied with the lack of quality, no matter how much effort they put in. TH stumps up loan fees, transfer fees and huge wage increases (by our standards) to keep what people class as key players and he gets called for it. If TH refuses to sanction these new contract offers and sold said key players in the summer he would also get called for it. Seems to me he can’t win no matter what he does. The fact a club our size and turnover is prepared to offer such contracts shows the financial backing TH provides.

Four things about the wage bill, last accounts show over £19m
1. It has absolutely shot up over the last 3 seasons, nearly a 50% increase 2. It is competitive depite what some say...it is near, around the same or more than one-third of the division. I don't know what Wycombe's is but doubt it is as much as £4 or £5m, Barnsley is less than £10m 3. It is unaffordable...PNE has the largest % differential between income and wage expenditure in the Championship 4. Whilst undoubtedly very good contracts will have been offered to key players it is also apparent that (good) contracts have been offered to players who are not good enough
--
Whilst it is true that the figures show the degree of TH backing they also show just how useless PR is...bnecause the debt has also grown from just over £20m external debt (inc £13m of TH money) to internal debt that must now be around the £60m mark.
In the meantime of course as Saturday's fiasco only confirmed there has been thr continuing failures to address the problem of player development and the standard of recruitment.

dawsonsjs, Just one thing on the debt. I may be wrong on this...but as always, don't think I am!!! After TH wrote off the internal debt that had been accrued through loans over the years, all extra money he has put in has been in the form of a share issue. There has been no mention of these being loans to the best of my knowledge, so the only debt is the overdraft. This may seem like a minor quibble, barely worth mentioning, BUT if the club were to be for sale, my assumption is that there would not be any inherited debt, with the exception of what we owe the banks. As I say, I may be wrong, but seem to recall this coming from one of the fan's forums they did for a while.

Big problem with our wage bill is what we are paying the likes of Rafferty, Bodin, Ripley, Moult, Harrop, Nugent, Stockley etc. All these are probs on more than the top players at the likes of Barnsley, Luton, Wycombe etc without deserving the wage they get but yet we then struggle to pay our better players a competitive wage for established championship players.
Barnsley’s model now seems to have clicked which is sustainable in this league if you can keep up the recruitment. (This may become a struggle with brexit?) nearly backfired last season with relegation but they appear to be a league 1, champ yo yo side. Turnover would suggest that this is what we should be. If we don’t get recruitment right in these next 2 windows then we may find ourselves in trouble next season.

I see rovers apparent slender thread is still strong. They've bid for a full back at crewe. I keel hearing how they'll be the next Bolton with their debt but yet they still spend.
