I have just returned from France where I have experienced zilch social distancing.....usual mad dash, pushing and shoving to get on a bus, every seat full, no queuing outside Intermarche, Leclerc's, aisles full of shoppers, bars. restautants heaving with no spacing between chairs. And yet the area I have been in...Poitou-Charente....has had a very low infection rate, far less than the North of England. On the other hand nearly everyone is wearing a mask, even in open spaces....so you see people out cycling even wearing a mask.
It does make you wonder what's right and what' s wrong. We have managed to destroy our economy taking measures that other countries have avoided but still had lower death rates. The overall R rate may now be marginally higher in France but the difference is so small I'd say it is negligible
It's apparent to me that there is still a lot to be learned about the nature of this virus.
I'm sure grounds can be safely re-opened...but it requires the closure of toilets (or moniototing numbers), catering, turning up early for allocated seats, etc.
This virus is something that we have all got to learn to with and accept the restrictions on our lives. I've now got to stay at home for 2 weeks...totally inadequete notice to get back, was 458th in a queue to reschedule a Euroshuttle booking. I have it to do and it's a small price to pay if it contributes to prevention (albeit I'm not sure it does)...but I contrast to thre German to whom I was talking. He has to take a test on his return...if all clear so is he.
What happens if just one person who has been in a re-opened stadium subsequently tests positively?
I'd say the risk that life presents has just increased but it is something to get on with and should not be allowed to destroy at least an apporoximation of a return to 'normality'.

Seems the virus is mutating and taking proportionately fewer lives. Cases significantly up yet deaths significantly down. I was pretty close to Deepdale stadium last week for my non symptomatic covid test. I usually park there on match days. Miss the place and the games more as time moves on.

Sat 17th Oct for a return...but only 30% max capacity.
Big incentive for the 5,000 or so regular attenders who don't buy STS to go out and get one because there won't be match day tickets available due to the pre-allocation of seats and if all the STs are taken up there will only be about 1,000 match tickets available in advance....and that's assuming no away supporters allowed.

dawsonsjs, there were 30k deaths from Hong Kong flu in 1968 and we lived through it. No panic, no shutting down businesses and no "experts" predicting Gloom and Doom. Only about 200 persons under the age of 40 and working have died in this Pandemic. The Medics have fudged the figures to produce the end result they predicted, and everyone overlooked the vulnerable in Hospitals and Care Homes. I am not wishing to be dispassionate but most of those who died died from existing ailments exacerbated by the virus. The death rate for the next 12months will reflect this. The Government are still trying to frighten everyone but the Youngsters have had enough and want to carry on with their lives. In the meantime we, as vulnerable adults, need to distance ourselves from them wherever possible. Hence, I'm not taking advantage of eating out for a Discount.

sadly my brother is no longer fit enough to attend. Looking as if we will not be renewing and giving up our brilliant seats that we have had ever since the Invincible s stand was opened. Will watch on i-player. Not as good, but a reasonable alternative at £10 a game.

Should reintroduce pay on the gate contactless only on the kop once we can have more capacity. Can’t see away fans let in all season.

As a part of the ongoing attempt to address live issues the latest update is with regard to our season ticket policies.
On Friday 28th August 2020 as I had promised in my last update, we published our season ticket pricing for the upcoming season. These prices have created plenty of reaction, some negative but by no means all. At times like these it is incumbent on us to explain our thinking and to put these prices into the context of the club as a whole.
As we have previously stated, we have had no trading income since March but have had to continue to keep the club alive. This has meant a commitment to paying the monthly payroll including HMRC payments and the costs of Project Restart where we played the remaining nine games of last season behind closed doors with substantial costs, including COVID-19 testing, but no income.
Times are tough, the pandemic is unprecedented within our lifetimes and our overriding responsibility is to keep the Club in a healthy financial position. Supporters at clubs like Bolton, Bury, Wigan and Charlton have had to deal with keeping their clubs in existence. These are the challenges that many more will face in the coming months. We are not prepared for a similar fate to befall us.
We have pitched our season ticket prices at the same levels as last year plus free iFollow PNE for the first two home games, recognising that this means actually attending four ‘free’ games instead of six under normal circumstances. In reality, given stringent restrictions of capacity in the coming months it is unlikely that there will be any match by match availability in the short term.
Many have pointed out the ‘no refund clause’ under the terms and conditions. This is not new but has been in our terms and conditions for some time. We have to budget for the year ahead and many of our overheads are fixed with no reduction if we have further disruption to the forthcoming season. In such circumstances, if we are to survive, we must take these overheads into account.
The capacity for the coming season is restricted to approximately 6,500 supporters. In a normal year only 32 per cent of our season ticket holders pay full adult price. A normal year of U11s being free would have meant that 20 per cent of this year’s restricted capacity would have paid nothing to enter. This cannot be right. Asking for just over £3 per game for U11s for one season only we believe is reasonable taking all circumstances into account. We sincerely hope that when we get back to normal times, we can reinstate the ‘free’ benefit for our younger supporters.
Seating arrangements will be as close to our season ticket holders existing seats but dependent on social bubbles and the need to social distance clearly 6,500 spread over four stands not three, will require some movement. This is a mandatory Government requirement. We hope to restore all of our season ticket holders to their preferred seat as soon as circumstances allow.
The 6,500 capacity will bring in approximately £1 million of income towards overheads of over £18 million pounds per annum. With a further contribution of £7 million from TV/EFL monies this still leaves millions of pounds to be found by our owner. This year his contribution will exceed £10 million pounds. Without his continued support there will be no football club.
The balancing act of paying our players, renewing contracts for those players who are coming to the end of their existing contracts and team strengthening is a delicate one. We attempt to get this fine balance as right as we can. In normal times it is a challenge, at times like we are facing at present, it is almost impossible.
We do not believe that asking our loyal supporters, despite recognising the challenging times that they are facing personally, to pay between £19 and £25 per match (dependent upon where you sit) versus many of our competitors’ prices is unreasonable. Against the backdrop of the costs of maintaining a competitive Championship football team we believe it to be fair.
I have tried to explain the challenges that we face and to outline our decisions which we recognise will not meet with universal approval. All that we can say is that there will be a Preston North End Football Club to support in the coming years. Many other clubs will not be able to say that with confidence.

I, too, think it's fair enough.
May well be a case that if you don't buy a ST then you are not going to see a game.

I don’t see a problem with pricing. A couple of issues around sitting near friends and for those who choose not to go this season, they should be able to get their seats back on first refusal next season.
There’s a lot of hand wringing around the no refund but as well, but ultimately... if we don’t pay, FFP will kick in. Renewing first thing Tuesday morning.
COYW.

Renewing as well, had Lancs membership as well not seen a ball not had a home game they have next week but no spectators due to hosting women’s matches as well, could have had money back didn’t will have name on a brick in new stand. As for those complaining when push comes to shove those complaining will renew and personal view games will get called off if local lockdowns and played later

Renewing on Tuesday. (also will have name on a brick at OT!), but genuinely sorry for those who cannot because of the economic consequences of Covid.

Sadly not everyone is in a position to stump the cash up in the next couple of weeks for a product that they are guaranteed to see, with no refund provisions.
The club should've offered a retainer for the 21-22 season. 20 or 30 quid to skip a season and reserve your seat for 21-22. Without that type of offer I think many will now not renew this season due to Covid and a large proportion of them won't come back in the future.

If we are planning to return to Deepdale even during a local lockdown (we’ve not shifted from top 20 covid cases in the UK in weeks), then it should be OK shouldn’t it? I’m going to take the risk anyway. Who knows what the next 6 months will bring.

Thinking I might not get the £535 Ticket if they can sit me anywhere so might try for the Shankly for this season.
