Just look at the Attendance. Wonder what it was because we were still 1st Division club then. Only when Sir Tom retired in 1962 did we get Relegated. Can't make out the player either.

I can’t put my finger on it but something about that photo doesn’t look right
Edit :
Look at the badge on the shirt A flag flying? Isn’t that the Argentina shirt?

1954 cup final at Wembley. Preston badge then was lamb on two crossed keys[Without showing my age I was taken to the final by my uncle. And surprising as it now seems we drove there and back in a Bond minicar (this was a small three wheeler with a small motorcycle engine. Think maximum speed around 50).For interest the two players at the bottom left look like Jimmy Baxter and Charlie Wayman. Both were then at their peak, and arguably two of the best in the league. For a few years we regularly finished in the top 4.Then Tom Finney retired and the rest is history.) /quote]Good spot

5-0 against Man City with a 35000 crowd with a similar figure for Huddersfield v Blackpoo while in second tier 49000 watch Liverpool.
Wonder how many clubs in the 3rd tier still exist
