Seems like a play on a MOR Manic Street Preachers Song...but it isn't. I hate weekends without the mighty whites. No interest in Internationals and am banned from running at the moment, due to injury, so nothing to do. It's quiet on here, so how about...
PNE INTERNATIONAL XI FANTASY TEAMS! Here's the rules - no more than 4 players for a single nation. Player MUST have played for said country (so sorry Greeeeeeegan 4 England doesn't count - anyone remember the gut on the Town End with that on his shirt?) Any formation you wish...Here goes...
1) Tepi Moilanen (Finland) 2) Graeme Alexander (Scotland) 3) Ricardo Gardner (Jamaica) 4) Bill Shankly (Scotland) 5) Colin Murdock (NI) 6) Bailey Wright (Aus) 7) David Beckham (England) 8) Billy Bodin (Wales) 9) Ricardo Fuller (Jamaica) 10) David Nugent (he plays for England...) 11) Eddie Lewis (USA)
A few obvious omissions and who would have guessed Shane Cansell-Sherriff never actually played for Australia - that's how bad he was! So the back 4 Grezza and Gardner at full backs. Bailey Wright and Murdock at CH. Shanks sitting in CM alongside Becks. Bodin and Lewis out wide with Nuge and Fuller up front. Decent side? Anyone pick one that would beat mine?

Pickford (Eng) Grezza (Scot) Claude (Jam) Bailey (Aus) Davidson (Scot) Beckham (Eng) O’Neil (Scot) Lewis (USA) McGeady (ROI) Welbeck (Eng) Carroll (Eng)
As much as Welbeck and Carroll weren’t great for us they had much more success higher up the tree.

Mooney, don't think I can top that but I think Gally would be a decent playmaker and Claude of course. Pickford Grezza Wright Davies Davidson Gally Shankly Beckham Browne Lewis Nugent Would imagine guys of advancing years may put a cracker together.

Mooney, I bought that single in 1992 or 3 on cassette. It was an extended play. Thinking about going to see Stereophonics

I deliberately left Sir Tom out, for two reasons...1) I knew he'd be an auto pick for everyone who gave this more than a nano second thought and 2) To see how long it would take someone to notice!

My team reflects my age! Fred Else Willie Cunningham, Joe Walton Tommy Docherty, Joe Marston and Willie Forbes Sir Tom, Tommy Thompson, Alex Dawson, Spavin, Peter Thompson. All internationals except Spavin. Think Marston played for Australia. Could have put Fuller in for Dawson but he was a REAL OLD - FASHIONED CENTRE FORWARD. I am bearing in mind that we had one of the best teams in the country in the 50s - us and Wolves.

The sh177est International team would be:-
GK:-Michael crowe(Wales under21) DEF:-Colin Murdock (N.Ireland) DEF:- Lee Briscoe (Eng under 21) DEF:-Neil Collins (Scot under 21) DEF:- Craig Morgan (Wales) MID:- Keamar Daley (Jamaica) MID:- Brian-Barry-Murphy (Rep Ireland under21) MID:- Stephen Robinson (N. Ireland) MID:-Thordor Gudjohnson (Iceland) ATTK:-Eddie Johnson (USA) ATTK:- Andy Carroll
Not saying all these were not very good but at pne, none of them did pretty well, some did well once they left.
